Every game coming to Amazon’s Luna at launch

Amazon revealed its new game-streaming service, Luna, on Thursday — as well as a string of AAA games sure to entice avid gamers.

Luna offers different subscriptions (called gaming channels) that players can pick and choose from. At launch, only the Luna+ channel will be available, with a Ubisoft channel coming later. An Amazon rep clarified that players can subscribe to the Ubisoft channel without paying for Luna+, but all games need a subscription of some kind to play.

“No, you cannot buy individual games via Luna, but we’re always looking for ways to make Luna more customer-friendly and look forward to sharing more in the future,” an Amazon spokesperson told Digital Trends.

Xbox is kicking off October with three new games coming to Game Pass, along with two from the Ultimate tier getting added to the Standard tier, the first time the company has had to make that distinction.

Inscryption and Sifu, two standout indie titles from 2021 and 2022, respectively, are absolutely worth checking out when they hit Game Pass this month. Sifu, coming on October 2, is a third-person beat 'em up with a twist: every time you die, you get resurrected as an older version of yourself. This brings some advantages, like new skills, but your health decreases. Sifu is less about defeating waves of enemies and more about improving as you go, becoming something of a kung fu master.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2's penultimate installment follows Adar (Sam Hazeldine) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) as they and their respective Elven and Orc armies meet in battle outside the walls of the Elvish kingdom of Eregion. The conflict itself, known canonically as the Siege of Eregion, takes up the majority of the episode's runtime, and for good reason. It already ranks high as one of the most impressive blockbuster battle sequences that has ever been brought to life on TV.

The siege takes place almost entirely at night, but you're still able to perceive and understand everything that happens throughout it. That's a testament to the work of director Charlotte Brändström and cinematographer Alex Disenhof, the latter of whom confessed in an interview with Collider that he was worried about how visually legible the battle would turn out. "As [a] cinematographer, I think, some of the scariest things you can read on a page are like, 'A moonlit night,'" Disenhof admitted.

I can't imagine life without my Steam Deck. Valve's handheld PC has fundamentally changed how I play games with a massive chunk of my playtime now happening on the device.
