Preliminary matches between the top 32 finalists drawn from various stops the world tour has made will take place Sunday, Nov. 20 and Monday, Nov. 21 at the web2zone Cyber Center in New York City. The final two competitors will go head to head Nov. 22 at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square.
In addition, the tour points leader will be awarded the “Intel Player of the Year” title and take home an additional $20,000 and the Intel Gaming Cup. Festivities during this year’s championship event will include technology demonstrations, VIP parties, sponsorship booths, musical performances, various vendor participation and lots of videogames.
MTV has partnered with The CPL and will provide coverage of the finals on MTV Overdrive, the new broadband video channel from MTV.com. MTV will also feature live highlights of the tournament and create a half-hour special of the World Tour Finals to air on MTV on Saturday, November 26, 2005.
