Battleborn co-op campaign footage clears up lots of questions

We’ve been able to gather one important fact about Gearbox Software’s Battleborn so far: It is a big game. Too big, really, for a first look demo to tell the whole story. Fortunately, Gearbox and publisher 2K Games seem to realize that, as they’ve released a lengthy new video that offers a mostly unfiltered peek at the game’s five-player cooperative story mode.

Battleborn is set in a universe in which all of the stars in the sky, save one, have winked out. The interstellar travel-equipped species of the galaxy converge on this last safe haven and immediately begin fighting with one another. Differences are put aside, however, when a greater threat reveals itself, and hero’s of each faction — the Battleborn — rise up to push back against the menace.

This video doesn’t really delve into the story, nor does it give any sense of how the game’s competitive multiplayer mode works. You do get some enlightening talk about how everything works with this game from creative director Randy Varnell and writer Aaron Linde, however.

It's no secret that Halo Infinite launched with many missing features that fans were expecting. The core gameplay was solid, but the multiplayer mode was bare-bones, forge is missing, and perhaps most importantly, there was no co-op of any kind. Co-op, as well as forge, is planned to be coming but much later than expected. Thankfully the team at 343 appears dedicated to adding more content to this flagship franchise, but many players are running out of patience for these features to come.

Marvel's heroes are going into the tactical role-playing game world this year with Marvel's Midnight Suns. The previously delayed title from 2K Games is now launching on October 7, 2022 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The Quarry might just live up to Until Dawn’s horror legacy

I absolutely loved Supermassive Games’ 2015 horror title Until Dawn. The interactive drama had intriguing supernatural lore and impeccable pacing that kept me engaged throughout the entire experience. Since then, I’ve been mixed on Supermassive’s output with its Dark Picture Anthology series, hoping that it could recapture the magic I felt with Until Dawn.

That’s the direction in which the studio’s upcoming game, The Quarry, seems to be going for me.
