Blade: everything we know so far

We’re in the golden age of superhero video games with the likes of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and an upcoming Wolverine game, but even some lower-profile heroes are starting to get some love. The vampire hunter Blade is one of the next Marvel characters to get the spotlight, and the game will be brought to us by none other than Arkane Lyon. Known for the Dishonored series and the recent hit Deathloop, this team has the potential to give us a very different style of game that suits the character perfectly. Time to sharpen your teeth, don your coat and glasses, and stalk the streets of Paris for all the details on the upcoming Blade.

Release date speculation

It will probably be a while before Blade sees the light of day. Not only was there no date or even window given, but Studio director Dinga Bakaba posted the following on X (formerly Twitter): “We’re going to stay silent for a while …” Expect to wait until at least 2025 for this one, if not longer.

Despite no platforms being confirmed in any marketing material thus far, we know that developer Arkane Lyon is under Bethesda, and thus Xbox Games Studios, which at least heavily implies that it will be an Xbox console exclusive. A PC version is almost certain as well, but PlayStation players are more than likely going to be left out of the vampire-killing fun.

Marvel’s Blade | Announcement Trailer | The Game Awards 2023

The reveal trailer for Blade was a surprise announcement at The Game Awards 2023. It sets the scene in Paris, where Blade is relaxing while getting a shave during a lockdown. When the siren goes off, he suits up with his glasses, knives, guns, grenades, and, most importantly, his sword. The teaser ends with Blade remarking, “the night’s just getting started.”

The reveal was purely cinematic, but once again, Bakaba shared some more info on the development of Blade. According to him, Blade will be a “single-player immersive sim hybrid with all the shit we love!” The trailer showed it will take place in Paris, but we also know it will be a third-person game, which will be a first for the studio. The immersive sim component suggests an open world, or at least a large hub world, which we will be able to explore however we choose. We can reasonably predict to use Blade’s iconic sword, plus various firearms and other vampire-slaying tools, but until gameplay is officially shown, it is pure speculation.

The Alien franchise has had some very high highs, but many lows. This is true for both the films and the video games, but one title we can point to as being an amazing entry in the franchise, as well as one of the best horror games, is Alien: Isolation. This game perfectly captures the mood, environment, and creeping dread from the first film. But for years that one game seemed like it would be all we would get. On the game's 10-year anniversary, however, we learned that the Xenomorph is ready to burst once more in a proper sequel. Here's everything we know about Alien: Isolation 2 so far.
Release date speculation

Alien: Isolation creative director Al Hope announced Alien: Isolation 2 via X (formerly Twitter) with a short statement celebrating the original's anniversary. The message ends with: "Today, I'm delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to ALIEN: ISOLATION is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready."

Lords of the Fallen 2: everything we know so far

The first big-budget game to follow in the footsteps of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls was Deck13 and CI Games' 2014 title Lords of the Fallen. The game debuted to mostly positive reviews, but wouldn't get a proper follow-up for almost 10 years. Originally called Lords of the Fallen 2, we eventually got Lords of the Fallen in 2023. While that was a bit confusing on its own, we can now look forward to Lords of the Fallen 2 (or whatever name it ends up launching with), which is technically the third game in the series. We won't have to wait another decade this time, so let's manage our stamina and check out everything we know about this next big soulslike.
Release window

CI Games announced in June 2024 that Lords of the Fallen 2 was targeted for a 2026 release window. It also noted that the game does not have an official title yet, so it may not end up being called Lords of the Fallen 2. A few months later ,we learned that the game had entered full production, meaning it will have a very short development time compared to other games of its scope if it manages to hit its target year. Further details, and hopefully footage, are planned to be revealed in 2025.
Platforms
Along with the announcement of Lords of the Fallen 2, we also found out that it is being developed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it will be an Epic Games store exclusive on PC. The reason for not appearing on Steam is due to an investment into the project by Epic in exchange for exclusivity. However, these deals tend to only be for a limited time, so it is possible it will show up on Steam six months to a year after launch.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a project that was rumored for a long time before being officially announced recently. This remake of the hit PlayStation 2 title, which was the third mainline entry in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, is often considered the best by fans and critics alike. However, with the departure of series creator Hideo Kojima from Konami, the idea of a remake being handled by a different team was met with skepticism. It seems that Konami is confident in the project, so we'll just have to wait until we get our hands on it to see how the final product shakes out. There hasn't been a solid release date listed for this remake, but Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was quietly featured in an official Sony video previewing 2024 releases. Pending any delays, it sounds like we'll get to play the remake this year.
