Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Nintendo DS port coming from Geist developer

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is coming to the Nintendo DS, continuing an annual trend that’s been going on the DS since the first Modern Warfare. The news was confirmed by Dan Amrich, social media manager for Activision, on his website One of Swords. Word came along with the confirmation that n-Space is developing the DS port for release this fall. The news came on the heels of last week’s revelation that Black Ops dev Treyarch is working on the Wii port of MW3.

n-Space has made quite a name for itself in recent years, having worked on all of the Call of Duty ports for DS, as well as Star Wars, Marvel Comics, James Bond and Toy Story ports for the Nintendo handheld. The developer is probably best known for its work on Geist, a smart first-person shooter-like GameCube exclusive in which the main character, a spirit, solved puzzles and fought bad guys by possessing and taking direct control of those he met.

Of course, it’s probably more the previous Duty ports than Geist that will most inform n-Space’s efforts on the MW3 port. If you liked those — they’re not bad, for ports of games that are meant to be played in HD — then you’ll probably be a fan of this next one. Amtich doesn’t mention a release date, though the plan for the Wii version is to get it out on the same day as the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360/PC release. Even that isn’t confirmed, but the hope for a day-and-date release with the “lead” titles for the DS port is presumably the same.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 will reintroduce the iconic Intervention sniper -- now known as the FJX Imperium. The 3DS eShop is no longer allowing Nintendo fans to make new game purchases, marking the end of a long era of DS-branded handhelds. Not only that, but it's also sunsetting a vibrant indie community in the process. After helping smaller developers break through with WiiWare and DSiWare, the 3DS eShop was where indies really started to flourish on Nintendo consoles. Multiple games and developers built success stories on the platform, starting series that are still recognized in the eyes of Nintendo fans and stand as some of the 3DS’ most iconic games.

Within a year of the eShop's launch, WayForward's Mighty Switch Force provided one of the system's best 3D experiences, Renegade Kid's Mutant Mudd showed the potential of a platformer where players can hop between the foreground and background, and Hörberg Productions' Gunman Clive provided a short, sweet, and cheap throwback platformer experience with lots of styles. By 2014, Yacht Club Games' Shovel Knight had cemented itself as one of the best indie games of all time on the 3DS. Titles like that gave the 3DS a reputation as a haven for smaller developers. a platform where they could break out of a niche and connect with a larger audience.

Modern Warfare 2: Atomgrad Episode 2 Raid Guide

As part of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 Reloaded update, Activision has added the next raid, titled Atomgrad Episode 2. It picks up right where the first episode left off, and follows a similar format, throwing you into difficult battles against enemy AI. As with the first raid, Episode 2 requires you to have three players to start -- with no matchmaking available.

Once you've put together a three-player group, you'll be able to jump in and start Atomgrad Episode 2. Keep in mind that you will need to have purchased Modern Warfare 2 to begin.
