Capcom Next: Summer 2024: how to watch and what to expect

As a game publisher, Capcom continues to be on a roll. It impressed me at Summer Game Fest this year with games like Monster Hunter Wilds and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and I’m excited about the recent announcements of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Now, Capcom is holding a dedicated showcase called Capcom Next: Summer 2024 to give a deeper look at three imminent games. If you’d like to tune in, I’ve rounded up all the relevant information about the event so you know where to tune in and how to set your expectations.

When is Capcom Next: Summer 2024?

The Capcom Next: Summer 2024 showcase will broadcast at 3 p.m. PT on July 1. Capcom says the program will last 25 minutes, so set aside a half-hour to check it out sometime if you can’t watch it live.

What to expect from Capcom Next: Summer 2024

Capcom made it quite clear that we should only expect to see three games during this Capcom Next showcase: Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard for Apple devices. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a fascinating hybrid of tower defense and action game elements, and we’ll seemingly be getting a thorough deep dive into the game before its July 19 launch.

We’ll receive more details on Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which Capcom surprisingly announced on Wednesday and marks the return of a beloved zombie game series. Finally, Capcom will show off the version of Resident Evil 7 that’s being made for iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices with an M1 chip or better in the wake of similar ports for Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4’s remake. It’s unfortunate that we won’t be learning more about Monster Hunter Wilds or Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics during Capcom Next, but at least all three things Capcom is showing off are pretty compelling.

Tokyo Game Show returns this year with a Japanese-developer-filled showcase. One of the guests of honor is Capcom, the publisher of popular series like Street Fighter and Resident Evil. Some fans are eager to find out more about their favorite franchises, but those in the West might worry they won't be able to watch the publisher's showcase because of the time difference between the U.S. and Japan. Thankfully, the TGS schedule aligns just enough for those with room in their morning schedules, depending on what coast you're on. Here's how to watch the Tokyo Game Show 2022 Capcom Online Program and what games will be present.

The Capcom Tokyo Game Show Showcase airs at 10 a.m. ET September 15. It streams live from the Capcom USA YouTube channel and from each of the featured games' dedicated Twitch channels. The whole Tokyo Game Show itself starts much earlier because of the time zone difference, but westerners should still be able to catch the showcase at this mid-morning time.

Capcom is on a roll with games lately. Recent releases like Monster Hunter Rise, Resident Evil Village, and the upcoming Great Ace Attorney have made the publisher the talk of the town in 2021. While the company seemingly doesn't have many new titles to announce, Capcom revealed that it is hosting an E3 2021 event showcasing a few updates coming to a few games and a look at its upcoming Ace Attorney duology.
When is Capcom's E3 Showcase?
Capcom revealed via a YouTube announcement that its press conference takes place at 2:30 p.m. PT on Monday, June 14. Capcom didn't mention how long the event will run.
Where to watch Capcom's E3 Showcase?
Capcom's E3 is being streamed on a wide variety of different platforms. You can tune in via Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, or through the official E3 portal.
What will be shown at Capcom's E3 Showcase?
Capcom isn't bringing any huge world premieres to the stage as far as we know. The showcase will take a look at the already released titles like Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village. Monster Hunter Stories 2 and the upcoming The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles duology will be featured as well.

While not outright stated, Capcom may use the stream to unveil DLC for Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise, the latter of which was teased during the recent Monster Hunter announcement stream.
What won't be shown at Capcom's E3 Showcase?
It's best to assume that what you see is what you get. While there is always the possibility of surprises being in store for E3 events, it's also usually safe to assume that events such as this will stick to the script if there is already one announced.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, developed by Eidos-Montreal, was vastly underrated when it came out in 2021. While it was critically acclaimed, with one of the best superhero narratives we've seen outside of the PlayStation Spider-Man games and an excellent 1980s-inspired soundtrack, then parent company Square Enix said it "undershot" expectations. Whether it was due to poor marketing, comparisons to the poorly received live-service game Marvel's Avengers (also published by Square Enix) from the previous year, or something else entirely, it flew under the radar.
