City of Heroes fans take note (as well as the rest of you) – City of Villains, the stand alone sequel to last year’s popular multiplayer online computer game, is now populating store shelves in the form of a pre-order box.
This pre-order box, said City of Heroes publisher NCsoft, offers buyers exclusive access to the game’s beta test as well as a two-day head start over others when the game goes fully live later this year. Those who pre-order the game will also get an exclusive in-game Arachnos costume piece, poster and other goodies on a special CD-ROM.
For those who don’t know about City of Villains, the online game allows players the ability to take on evil villains, customizing their costumes and building bases for groups. Criminal missions and events will occur within the Rogue Isles.
City of Villains will also allow player versus player action and the ability to fight against player controlled heroes in special PvP zones.
“This pre-order package is quite robust and is a great start for City of Villains at the retail level,” said Jack Beuttell, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Merchandising for Gamestop Corp. “City of Villains is shaping up to be one of the biggest PC releases of the year, and this pre-order will give customers a preview that should kick-up anticipation levels to another notch.”
