Crackdown Is A Winner

Crackdown Is A WinnerCrackdown, the X box 360 game that’s garnered high praise and big sales, has won the innovationprize and Develop Awards.   It was one of three winners – Motorstorm, for the PS3, took away the best new franchise prize, while Sony had the Grand Prix award for overall excellence.   Crackdown was designed by David Jones, who works forReal Time Worlds. He also helped in the creation of the classic Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings.   Among other awards, Eden Games won for Test Drive Unlimited, which was given for best use of online, whilst Viva Piñata from Rare was given the prize for visual arts. The Development Legend crown went to Ian Hetherington, former manager of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and co-founder of game firm Psygnosis.   Develop magazine canvassed 100 game industryexperts to choose the award recipients.   “The fact that no one company dominated the awards this year shows what a diverse range of talent this industry boasts,” said MichaelFrench, editor of Develop Magazine. “It’s been a brilliant year for games, with new hardware allowing developers to really stretch their imagination with new ways to play – so competition forthese prestigious awards has been fiercer than ever.”

Besides announcing the big winners and unveiling new projects, this year's Game Awards will also include a slew of yet-to-be-released game demos that will be free on PC, including Spiritfarer, Digital Trends' E3 Best Visuals award winner.

Developed by Thunder Lotus, Spiritfarer has players control Stella, a ferry master who builds a ferry boat and embarks on a journey to explore the world while also befriending and caring for animal spirits before finally releasing them into the afterlife. Spiritfarer blew us away at this year's E3 because of its unique lighting effects and highly detailed, hand-drawn 2D art style. While no official release date has been announced, Spiritfarer will arrive sometime next year for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

How to revive dead companions in Baldur’s Gate 3
Withers offering services to the player in Baldur's Gate 3.

You're given a good bit of leeway during battles in Baldur's Gate 3 before you or a companion actually bites the dust for good. While in battle, if a teammate does take enough damage to drop, they aren't dead then and there. Instead, they will be downed with a chance to roll every turn to get back up. If they roll successfully three times, the battle ends, or you use another character to pick them up, they're good. If they fail that roll three times, however, they will be completely dead. That can be harsh when you've become attached to certain characters and want to further their stories, so you'll be looking for any way you can to bring them back. Thankfully you do have a few options for reviving companions in Baldur's Gate 3, but just like respeccing, they aren't so obvious.
Pay Withers to bring them back

Withers is a friendly undead you can find in a secret room in the Dank Crypt found inside the Overgrown Ruins. After finding and speaking to him in his sarcophagus, he will offer you various services, one of which is bringing back any dead companions. He won't do this out of the kindness of his heart (probably because it isn't beating) and will charge you a heavy fine of 200 gold to do so. Still, that's a small price to pay to bring back a beloved character. Once paid, that character will appear in your camp where they would normally be, so there's no need to go back to their corpse and find them.
