Dance Dance Revolution Spawns TV Show

Get ready…you know you’ve been dying for this to happen. CBS and DIC Entertainment, working in association with Konami, earlier this week unveiled plans for a new televised dance series based on…you guessed it, Dance Revolution. Those wanting to tune in will have to wait until Sept. 16, when this show puts on its dancing shoes as part of CBS’s Saturday morning line up.

Dance Revolution, said all parties involved, is a live-action television series based on Konami’s extremely popular video game franchise Dance Dance Revolution. Notes published by DIC and Konami describe this series as one in which “’tweens’ and teens bring their freshest moves to this sensational new dance competition where teams of dancers display their innovative routines. Hosted by the charismatic “Dance Revolution” house band, kid-friendly judges determine the winners as the dancers perform their routines to the cool sounds of the band.”

Dance Revolution will also offer onscreen visuals so that viewers at home can stop drooling on themselves while staring at the glowing box and instead partake in specific dance moves and steps.

“This collaboration gives Konami an excellent opportunity to bring elements of the DDR franchise to television,” states Kazumi Kitaue, Chairman & CEO of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc, in a statement. “We hope to create equal success with the franchise on TV that we have had with the video game and look forward to working with DIC on bringing fun, interactive entertainment to young audiences.”

The Rock and John Cena face off in WWE 2K22.

I began watching wrestling in earnest in 2014. I was in the deepest depression of my life when a friend invited me over to watch WrestleMania 30. That just happened to be the year that WWE told one of media’s greatest underdog stories, as pipsqueak Daniel Bryan (or Bryan Danielson, as you may know him now) overcame impossible odds to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. It was an impactful moment -- one that gave me the confidence I needed to start the long climb out of a deep hole.

Guardians from Destiny 2

Destiny 2 developer Bungie has posted a career listing on its website for a senior executive for development in TV, movie, and transmedia. The company seems to be looking to take Destiny to other mediums besides video games. The career listing suggests that we may be getting movies, TV shows, and possibly even graphic novels set in the Destiny universe.

The post goes into more detail about what the position will do for the company and the Destiny brand: "As a storyteller and 'guardian' of the Destiny IP, you will identify, select, guide, collaborate, and provide feedback to third parties and partners, enabling them to tell additional myths in the Destiny universe that delight our fans while capturing the hearts and minds of new audiences."
