Dead by Daylight is bringing The Ring to its horrifying world

The newest chapter of Dead by Daylight, the hit multiplayer survival horror game, is bringing a Japanese cult classic icon with it. The Dead by Daylight world is colliding with the story of Ringu, the cult classic that was famously adapted into The Ring, the hit horror mystery film.

Dead by Daylight went from being known for its fear-filled gameplay to gaining even more recognition for its horror collaborations. It’s featured various icons from the genre, including Pinhead from Hellraiser, Freddy Krueger, Nemesis of Resident Evil 3 fame, Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head, Michael Myers, and more.

Not only will Dead by Daylight be mixing in pieces from the film adaptation of Ringu, but the original novel as well. The trailer hasn’t shown exactly what all will be coming with the new chapter. though we can surmise the main antagonist of the Ring series, Sadako Yamamura, will appear as a new playable killer.

“This new chapter inspired by Kōji Suzuki’s novel and the original acclaimed film adaptation will open the door for endless thrills and countless gameplay possibilities,” the devs behind Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive, said in a press release, “as it merges the eerie and melancholic world of the psychological horror masterwork with the twisted fantasy of Dead by Daylight.”

The new chapter of Dead by Daylight featuring elements from the Ring franchise hasn’t been given a specific release date, but it is confirmed to appear on screens everywhere (just like Sadoko Yamamura herself) in March 2022.

Dead by Daylight hosted its sixth-anniversary event and unveiled a ton of new seasonal content coming to the hit multiplayer horror game. The stream brought some surprises, including an anime beach episode-themed dating sim and an in-game crossover with the anime and manga series Attack on Titan.

The game's surprise dating simulator is being developed by Psyop, the team behind I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin' Good Dating Simulator. This cutesy spin-off called Hooked on You, allows players to drop the fear and unleash their thirst by hooking up with reimagined killers of the franchise like The Trapper, The Spirit, The Huntress, and The Wraith.

Elden Ring bug makes its hardest boss fight even harder

One of Elden Ring's hardest bosses just got much, much harder. The game's 1.04 patch introduced a number of changes today -- including buffs to colossal swords and some incantations -- along with a bug for Malenia. The Rot Goddess is now healing a bit of her health seemingly every time she attacks (and she attacks quite a lot).

For those who haven't fought her yet, Malenia is one of Elden Ring's optional bosses. She's the reason why Radahn is a massive, wild beast of a man by the time players fight him, and why all of Caelid looks like the inside of a fridge that hasn't been cleaned out in a decade. The boss fight against her is one of the hardest in the game, demanding that players dodge her attacks and avoid being hit with Scarlet Rot in her second phase. What makes fighting her really difficult is that she normally heals around 300 health every time she hits the player, even if they're blocking.

Like Zelda, Elden Ring throws players into its world and gives them free rein to play exactly the way they want. There is no set road and no rules of advancement besides going into different areas and defeating the main bosses, but the way you get to those objectives is entirely up to the individual player.
