Dead Island 2 leaks on Amazon with a February release date

An Amazon listing for Dead Island 2 has been leaked, providing details about the long-awaited sequel. The release date noted on the listing is February 3, 2023. The listing also confirms that it will launch on at least PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox platforms.

According to the listing, Dead Island 2 takes place in various locations across Los Angeles, including Venice Beach and Beverly Hills. There are six characters, called Slayers, to choose from with unique personalities and dialogues. They can be fully customized, and the game utilizes a new skill system that allows players to re-spec on the fly. There are a dozen zombie designs and types, each with their own mutations and attacks.

The Day One Edition of Dead Island 2 includes the Memories of Banoi Pack, which contains the Banoi War Club, Memories of Banoi Baseball bat, a Balanced Weapon Perk, and a Personal Space skill card.

Dead Island 2 has been under development for almost a decade, with previews for the game having come out all the way back in 2014. The game’s original developer, Sumo Digital, was replaced by Dambuster Studios in 2019. During the Summer Game Fest Kickoff stream back in June, a trailer for Goat Simulator 3 debuted in the same style as the first Dead Island‘s reveal trailer, leading the audience to think Dead Island 2 was finally coming.

However, that was a bait and switch. Not this time, though, as it looks like this sequel is a reality. Though an official announcement hasn’t been made, the leak does come ahead of next week’s big Gamescom Opening Night Live stream.

Insomniac Games showed off a new gameplay trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 during Sony's May 2023 PlayStation Showcase. The action-packed clip showed off its villain, the iconic Kraven the Hunter, but it didn't give the game a release date. It's still only scheduled for fall 2023.

The new trailer gave us our closest glimpse at Sony's upcoming release we've seen yet. It begins with a very cinematic clip showing off classic Spider-Man villain Kraven the Hunter. From there, we flash-forward a bit to New York City, where we see Peter Parker and Miles Morales working together to save the city. Parker has a fancy new black suit with a lot of wild powers. In the trailer, we see multiple black spider arms coming out of it and slamming enemies.

Any mod that applies the Liquidator effect to your weapon means it will start inflicting Caustic damage. While every element is useful, Caustic in particular is the top choice because there are very few zombies that are immune to this damage type. Because status effects build up based on continuous hits, this mod works best when attached to a weapon with a high rate of attack like a dagger or brass knuckles.

You may not think a first-person game about bashing zombies with all sorts of melee weapons would be an RPG, but Dead Island 2 is a little deceptive like that. Each of the six playable Slayers has its own base stats, but once you've selected them, there's not much else to worry about in that regard. What will really define your build is the Skill Cards. These act as a mixture of abilities and buffs you can slot into your character, but unlike a traditional skill tree where you simply unlock new skills as you go, cards can be swapped in and out whenever you like. While that's great for versatility, the sheer number of cards can make creating an effective build more intimidating than a swarm of flesh-eaters.
