Dishonored: Definitive Edition is half-price for players who own the original

The upcoming remastered PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Arkane Studios’ first-person stealth action game Dishonored will be available at a significant discount for players who purchased the original Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, publisher Bethesda announced this week.

The discount currently appears in the PlayStation Store for users who own the digital PlayStation 3 version of Dishonored, dropping Definitive Edition‘s pre-order price to just $20. The game normally retails for $40. Players who picked up a free copy of Dishonored when it was offered via the subscription-based PlayStation Plus service in April are eligible for the promotion as well.

Bethesda notes that the offer will also apply for Xbox One owners who purchased the Xbox 360 version of Dishonored digitally. While boxed copies of Dishonored are not eligible for the digital-only promotion, a Bethesda representative told Eurogamer that retailers may have similar trade-in incentives for players looking to upgrade when Definitive Edition launches next month.

Announced at E3 alongside an upcoming sequel, Dishonored: Definitive Edition upgrades the core Dishonored campaign with “enhanced graphics that take full advantage of the powerful hardware of this generation.” The package also bundles all previously released add-on content, including the challenge maps and items featured in the Dunwall City Trials and Void Walker’s Arsenal DLC.

Definitive Edition additionally includes the two-part campaign expansion featured in The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches DLC released in 2013. Running in parallel to Dishonored‘s core storyline, these bonus chapters put players in control of assassins’ guild leader Daud, and explore story elements left ambiguous in Dishonored‘s single-player campaign.

Originally released in 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms Dishonored equips players with an array of powerful stealth weaponry and supernatural skills that can be used to infiltrate the game’s environments undetected. Gameplay progresses throughout a series of assassination missions, and players have the option of either silently taking out their targets or invading their hiding spots by force. Notably, it’s possible (though very challenging) to complete the game without actually killing anyone.

Dishonored: Definitive Edition premieres for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on August 25.

You're given a good bit of leeway during battles in Baldur's Gate 3 before you or a companion actually bites the dust for good. While in battle, if a teammate does take enough damage to drop, they aren't dead then and there. Instead, they will be downed with a chance to roll every turn to get back up. If they roll successfully three times, the battle ends, or you use another character to pick them up, they're good. If they fail that roll three times, however, they will be completely dead. That can be harsh when you've become attached to certain characters and want to further their stories, so you'll be looking for any way you can to bring them back. Thankfully you do have a few options for reviving companions in Baldur's Gate 3, but just like respeccing, they aren't so obvious.
Pay Withers to bring them back

Withers is a friendly undead you can find in a secret room in the Dank Crypt found inside the Overgrown Ruins. After finding and speaking to him in his sarcophagus, he will offer you various services, one of which is bringing back any dead companions. He won't do this out of the kindness of his heart (probably because it isn't beating) and will charge you a heavy fine of 200 gold to do so. Still, that's a small price to pay to bring back a beloved character. Once paid, that character will appear in your camp where they would normally be, so there's no need to go back to their corpse and find them.

On Twitter, a message from Supermassive Games says this delay will ensure that players "receive the most polished, terrifying experience possible" at release. The game was released on that date to mixed reviews.
