There’s a new man in charge of Electronic Arts’ BioWare label, and it’s now-former BioWare Austin general manager Matthew Bromberg, VentureBeat reports. Bromberg steps into the space vacated by founders Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka, who both retired in 2012 after 17 years at the helm of the studio that created hits like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, and Jade Empire.
What? Jade Empire was totally a hit.
As the new group general manager of BioWare, Bromberg will be tasked with overseeing operations at the label’s Austin, Edmonton, and Montreal studios. He will also be in charge of Victory Games (the maker of the upcoming F2P Command & Conquer) in Los Angeles, and Waystone Games (Dawngate) in Redwood City, California, at EA’s headquarters. He’ll continue on in his new leadership role from the Austin location, while Jeff Hickman steps up to assume Bromberg’s old general manager gig.
Bromberg joined the BioWare team in 2012, right around the time the Austin team was changing Star Wars: The Old Republic over to a free-to-play pricing model. Prior to that, he served as CEO and president of Major League Gaming.
