Evolve, the four-versus-one co-op shooter from Turtle Rock Studios, is officially set to hit PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 21, 2014. The game pits a squad of multi-role hunters against a single, hulking alien beast with a whole mess of armor and health. All five are controlled by human players, and the result is a uniquely satisfying asymmetrical combat balance. Publisher 2K Games must have a lot of faith in this new game from the Left 4 Dead studio, releasing the game in the late-October/early-November window typically reserved for top franchise releases.

Those that pre-order the game will receive the Monster Expansion Pack, which includes a Savage Goliath skin (an alternate look for the only playable monster announced so far) and “a new monster character when available after Evolve is released.” We’ll likely hear more about the game when it puts in an appearance at E3 next month.

Keep an eye out for a new hands-on preview for Evolve later today. All we’ll say for now is that Turtle Rock appears to have another winner on its hands.

Bioshock 4: everything we know so far
BioShock promo art featuring the menacing Big Daddy in their armored suit.

When Bioshock came out in 2007, it blew expectations out of the water. Not only did it introduce us to the memorable world of Rapture deep below the sea, but it pulled off one of the most shocking plot twists in gaming history. The sequel stuck to the same setting, but Infinite once again invited us to a brand new dystopia floating in the clouds. Similar to Assassin's Creed, these games have become defined by their settings, which is why we have all been eagerly awaiting the next entry to see what fantastic space we would be exploring. While original creator Ken Levine has moved on to Judas, 2K has had Cloud Chamber Studios working on a new entry since 2019. That's a long time, but we still have a lot of questions that need answering. Would you kindly explore everything we know about Bioshock 4 with us?
Release date speculation

Neither 2K nor Cloud Chamber has committed to a release date for Bioshock 4. The latest unofficial update was spotted on LinkedIn by GamesRadar. Senior cinematic designer Jeff Spoonhower posted the follwoing: "The Bioshock team at 2K Cloud Chamber is ramping up! We have many positions open across a variety of disciplines including art, animation, engineering, design, narrative, and production."

Firaxis wants to make sure you actually finish a Civilization 7 game
A walled city sitting behind a mountain.

Civilization games are easy to get lost in, so much so that I don't think I've ever actually finished one of them. This is apparently a common problem because developer Firaxis Games wanted to address it with Civilization 7.

In an interview with Game Developer, creative director Ed Beach said that less than 50% of players completed a game of Civilization 6 due to its drawn-out pacing, something that many absolutely "hated." Tasks took longer and longer to complete as you went, and as the game became more complicated, players became overloaded with things to do to expand their empires. So Firaxis made some changes.

Play these 3 games before they leave Xbox Game Pass this weekend (August 23-25)
A robot's face pulls apart as it screams in Atomic Heart.

While Xbox Game Pass is still getting plenty of new games, some titles do leave the service every 15 days. At the end of August, we're losing some particularly good ones. If you're a fan of sports games, fighting games, or narrative-driven first-person shooters, then you'll want to play at least one of these games this weekend.

Don't fret that these games are leaving Xbox Game Pass, though. Xbox will be releasing Age of Mythology: Retold, Ara: History Untold, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Towerborne, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Xbox Game Pass this fall.
