Epic Games just teased a Fallout and Fortnite crossover

With Fallout being everywhere right now, it’s only fair that it joins Fortnite, too. Epic Games teased on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday that the iconic open-world RPG series will be coming to Fortnite.

While there aren’t any public details yet on what will be offered during this collaboration, we can expect some Fallout-themed weapons and some skins. Maybe a vault dweller suit or some power armor? Since Epic put a thumbs-up emoji in the caption, it’s safe to assume that Vault Boy will be involved.

We also don’t know when the crossover will launch, but considering Chapter 5, Season 2 will end on May 24, it seems possible that this Fallout content could be part of Chapter 5, Season 3. Fortnite is just coming off of Season 2, titled Myths & Mortals! It featured a lot of Greek-inspired events thanks to the opening of the literal Pandora’s Box and items. However, there’s been a massive sandstorm that knocked Pandora’s Box over and is now approaching. The image Epic Games posted above features a Brotherhood of Steel member surrounded by what could be sand, which could imply that Fallout will arrive with the sandstorm.

The Fallout franchise is having a moment right now thanks to the success of the Fallout Amazon Prime show. The 10-episode first season was a huge hit with critics and fans, with 65 million viewers checking it out during its first 16 days, according to Amazon. (It’s always worth noting though that what counts as a “view” here is ill-defined.) Publisher Bethesda has been capitalizing on the moment with big discounts on the video game franchise, by making its multiplayer Fallout 76 temporarily free to play, and crossing the TV show and games over in titles like Fallout Shelter.

Metaphor: ReFantazio just became my most anticipated game of the fall

Of all the big games coming this fall, Metaphor: ReFantazio is the most fascinating. The project is the next RPG from Atlus Studio Zero, the developers behind the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei franchise. When it was first unveiled, we saw that team ditch the modern day Tokyo setting for a more high-fantasy-themed world.

The easy shorthand would be “fantasy Persona" but after playing a few hours, its ideas run so much deeper than a new coat of paint. Metaphor feels like the culmination of the team’s aspirations with both the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei franchises. It enhances the world-building, combat, characters, and themes of those titles, all wrapped into the United Kingdom of Euchronia, the world that Metaphor takes place in. After only as few hours of play, I can't wait to go back.
Getting started
Before you even step foot into the world, you’re asked for your name. Not your character’s name, but the player's. It’s a simple question, yet my head swirled with thoughts about how the game would try to use this to bridge the gap between fantasy and reality. Sometimes such a simple question can be so powerful, and the way Metaphor’s sharp and quick-witted writing wields its words wisely, I needed to know more. Luckily throughout the preview, I caught glimpses of the way Metaphor sets out to use this neat little trick to lay the groundwork for bigger questions down the line.

Fallout 5: everything we know so far

Fallout 5 hasn't officially been announced yet but, with renewed interest in the postapocalyptic series thanks to the new Amazon-produced Fallout TV show, we're starting to hear more and more rumors about the new Wasteland adventure.

Where will the next game take place? What sort of factions will reign supreme in the region this time? And, most importantly, what is the name of the next dog companion?

Fortnite is back on mobile, but there are a few catches

Fortnite is one step closer to being fully back on mobile devices. Epic Games revealed Friday that its store app is now available on Android devices and on iOS in the EU.

This isn't the full Epic Games Store, but it's launching with Fall Guys for mobile, Rocket League Sideswipe, and, of course, Fortnite, with more apps to come. The storefront is also now on third-party mobile stores like AltStore PAL, and there are plans to bring it to others in the future.
