Fortnite challenge guide: Choose a character to be Lovely’s Valentine

One of the last challenges you’ll likely go for during Fortnite’s season 5, week 11 is choosing a character to be Lovely’s Valentine. This week’s challenges are all Valentine’s Day-themed, meaning you’ll have to run around the map, completing love-related errands for the game’s NPCs. After you’ve finished the challenge for collecting all three chocolate boxes, you’ll unlock the ability to go for the one for choosing a character to be Lovely’s Valentine.

The challenge description is sort of cryptic, as it doesn’t explain how to choose a character to complete it. In this guide, we’ll walk you through what you need to do. Here’s how to choose a character to be Lovely’s Valentine in Fortnite.

What you need to do for this challenge is simply talk to any of the NPCs around the map. That’s it. After you’ve collected the three chocolate boxes during stage one, visit any of the NPCs around the map and talk with them to make your selection. The map above shows all the locations of the various NPCs in the game (thanks, Fortnite.gg). So land at one of the less populated areas and find the NPC you like.

For the purposes of simplicity, we chose to visit Farmer Steel at the Steel Farm, just east of the Colossal Coliseum. Though, you can choose whichever NPC you’d like. Walk up to them and you’ll be prompted to give them a card, so press Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, or Y on Nintendo Switch to interact with them. Once you do, you’ll earn 20,000 XP and complete the challenge.

We recommend attempting this in Team Rumble, as you’ll be able to respawn if you get killed before talking to an NPC. It’s certainly doable in Battle Royale, but if you aren’t confident in your abilities, Team Rumble is the way to go. It’s also a good idea to coordinate with your team so they can watch your back as you go for the objective.

It’s also smart to go for an NPC that is sort of out of the way. Typically those around the edges of the map are less likely to attract other players — particularly if you fly in the opposite direction of the Battle Bus as it comes in. Though, even if you come across another player, you can quickly run up to the NPC and interact with them before you get taken out.

If you’ve been following along with our guides, this should be one of the last ones you’ll need to complete.

The Cybertruck is coming to Fortnite, so let’s hope it’s better at off-roading there
The back of a cybertruck towing something with a chain. It's in a desert with a bright blue sky.

Fortnite is no stranger to real-world crossovers, and the Tesla Cybertruck's arrival to the game on Tuesday is just the latest.

Epic Games teased the collaboration on Sunday with just the image of a tire tread and a cutoff Cybertruck logo. Then the studio released a small trailer on Monday with Fishstick successfully towing other in-game vehicles.

Take my hand, we're off to Fortnite land. The battle royale game's next major musical guest is no other than Metallica, and like other performers, they can make their way over to your Fortnite game.

From June 22 to 23, players can hop into Fortnite Discover to witness the 30-minute Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury. in Fortnite Festival. There are three time slots available on each day, so there are plenty of opportunities to catch the performance. You can see the schedule over on the Fortnite website.

The best places to land in Fortnite
Brutal Beachhead location in Fortnite

Survival is key in Fortnite, and it all starts by picking the best starting location. Even if you're an expert player, your likelihood of coming out on top is greatly diminished if you start off on the wrong foot -- whether it be at a barren location with no loot or a hot drop that could lead to a swift death.

As part of Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 3, there's no shortage of fantastic landing spots, but which one is best comes down to your skill and preference. With that in mind, here are the best places to land in Fortnite for veterans, beginners, and everyone in between.
The best places to land in Fortnite
Before jumping into the list of the best places to land in Fortnite, it's important to be aware of what makes a good landing spot. Sure, any place with decent loot might serve you well, but there's more to consider than that. Does a spot have a consistent chest/loot spawn? Are there guaranteed materials? Is it close to other places of interest (POI)s? Is it out of the way? Of course, loot is the most important aspect, but it does you no good to have a stacked loadout if you're stuck in the storm. These recommended landing spots all have some degree of consistency and fantastic loot. they also typically have some quirk that makes them effective depending on your playstyle.
