Fortnite season 5 week 5 challenge guide: Where to collect gnomes from Fort Crumpet and Holly Hedges

The third stage of Doggo’s Fortnite challenges during season 5 week 5 requires you to collect four garden gnomes across Fort Crumpet and Holly Hedges. This challenge is almost exactly the same as the first stage, which is for digging up garden gnomes — so don’t confuse the two. You must complete stages one and two before being able to make progress toward this one at stage three. As with most challenges, the game doesn’t tell you where to find the four gnomes, but luckily, we can fill you in on the locations of all of them.

In this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know about collecting gnomes to complete this week’s challenge. Here’s where to collect gnomes from Fort Crumpet and Holly Hedges in Fortnite.

Gnome locations

Much like the first stage of Doggo’s requests, the gnomes in this challenge can be collected in any order. Just be aware that the two locations — Fort Crumpet and Holly Hedges — will likely be super busy because of the challenge. It’s best to attempt to collect gnomes with a squad so they can watch your back. Also, unlike the first stage, these gnomes do not need to be dug up. They can simply be collected by pressing Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, and Y on Nintendo Switch.

Holly Hedges — First gnome

The first gnome is located in the outside section of the store in the middle of Holly Hedges. It’s sort of like the garden section of a large department store. The gnome is found cleverly hidden among the plants on the eastern side.

Holly Hedges — Second gnome

The next one is just north of the previous gnome. Make your way over to the festive, holiday-looking area and you’ll find the gnome next to some presents. (When using the map above, reference the red circle, not the blue waypoint.)

Fort Crumpet — First gnome

Next, make your way to Fort Crumpet, which is located on the northwestern side of the map, south of Coral Castle. This gnome is found inside the fort on the eastern side behind the cash register area. It’s close to a stack of souvenirs.

Fort Crumpet — Second gnome

For the final gnome, look for it in the center of the fort, behind a set of stairs. It’s on the ground level — the same as the previous gnome.

After you’ve collected all four gnomes (in any order), you’ll gain credit for completing the challenge and earn 20,000 XP for doing so. Now, you’ll only have one more Doggo quest left, which will have you bury the gnomes you just collected in various areas around the map.

The best weapons in Fortnite during Chapter 3, Season 4
New characters from Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 2.

Surviving in Fortnite and securing a Victory Royale takes skill and luck. Getting better at Fortnite requires a knowledge of the playing field and a drive to outlast your opponents, but none of that matters if you aren't picking up the right weapons. Building a loadout that suits your playstyle and managing your inventory as the match progresses is key to snagging a win. You don't want to be caught in a long-range battle against someone on a mountaintop without a solid rifle on hand, and you certainly don't want to find yourself inside a close-quarters building without an SMG or shotgun.

Our guide to the best weapons in Fortnite breaks down rarity types and what they mean, the most effective arms in each weapon category, and tips for how to use them. Chapter 4, Season 2 brought a lengthy list of changes to the Fortnite arsenal -- including new weapons and the return of some fan favorites.

Fortnite Guardian Shield: locations and how to use
Guardian Shield in Fortnite.

In January, Epic Games introduced a handful of new changes, including the removal of many Christmas-themed items, and its first new item of 2023: the Guardian Shield, which adds another layer of strategy when used correctly. This new item is tied to a series of in-game challenges, incentivizing players to give it a try. But where can you find the Guardian Shield and how does it work?
Where to find the Guardian Shield

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to guarantee getting a Guardian Shield, as they appear as random drops from chests across the map. With that in mind, we suggest visiting high-traffic areas that contain lots of chests -- preferably spots with Oathbound Chests. These are the large white chests that contain rarer loot and can be found in main hubs that aren't covered in snow, such as The Citadel. Regular chests yield Guardian Shields, too, though. We had luck finding them at Lonely Labs, but other areas contain the Guardian Shield, as well. You can also pick one up from eliminated enemies.
