The Division getting a stand-alone free-to-play game called Heartland

Ubisoft has major plans for the future of The Division franchise, starting with the reveal of Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland, a new free-to-play game set in the same universe as the previous installments.

The new title is currently in development for consoles, PC, and cloud. It’s developed by Red Storm, one of Ubisoft’s support teams. Heartland is planned to launch by the end of next year, though there’s no firm date.

This stand-alone game will not require players to have experienced the other entries and will “provide an all-new perspective on the universe in a new setting,” as explained via a post from Ubisoft. Players can currently sign up for the game’s test phase. Based on that signup page, it appears that Heartland will launch for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5, along with PC and cloud.

Within that same post, Ubisoft has a lot more planned, including an upcoming new original novel from publisher Aconyte that will take place after the events of The Division 2.

Ubisoft Massive and Ubisoft Bucharest are continuing to work on more content for The Division 2, with plans for a brand new game mode that is planned to launch in 2021. The company notes that a mobile version of the franchise is on the horizon as well.

Ubisoft shared a timeline of the franchise’s upcoming plans, which includes a new Netflix film inspired by the events of the original game. It will star Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain, with an unannounced release date. In short, fans of The Division have plenty to look forward to within the next few years.

For many fans of looter-shooters, it's hard to find a series quite as compelling as The Division. With two successful games in the franchise already under its belt, Ubisoft is clearly aware that it's a meaningful part of its ever-expanding catalog, so it's unsurprising that it's hard at work on a third entry. With the advent of newer hardware and a heap of lessons learned from the first two games, The Division 3 is all but certain to land with a bang and further cement the franchise as one of Ubisoft's most beloved.

We know The Division 3 is in development at Massive Entertainment with Julian Gerighty as the executive producer. Beyond that, though, not much has been shared about what to expect from the game yet. Even so, here's everything we know about The Division 3.
Release date
The Division 3 does not currently have a release date. And since the game hasn't even received any trailer yet, it's safe to assume we probably won't see it until at least 2025 — though stranger things have happened.

Nintendo is giving players the chance to check out the new Famicom Detective Club game's first few chapters for free ahead of the game's release for Switch.

Emio -- The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club is launching on August 29, but Nintendo is releasing a three-part demo on the eShop. Players can check out the prologue and chapter 1 starting the "evening" of August 19, followed by chapter 2 on August 22 and chapter 3 on August 27. If they decide to go ahead with the full game (which is now available for preorder for $50), players can also transfer their progress.
