How to find the Claymore in Elden Ring

FromSoft did everything right with Elden Ring, which includes carrying fan-favorite weapons over from previous Dark Souls games. So, if you're wondering if the Claymore is in Elden Ring, you're in luck! With a little bit of exploration, you'll find this famous greatsword on the southernmost tip of the Lands Between. Whether you're an experienced Souls player or a newcomer to the series, you can always rely on the Claymore as an accessible weapon for most builds.

Those playing a more melee-focused role should have the stats to wield it, even early on. In general, mages, sorcerers, and magic-centered builds can still use the Claymore with only minor investments in strength and dexterity. After all, you'll run out of FP eventually. Here's where to find the Claymore in Elden Ring, the stats required to wield it, and some helpful tips and tricks for pairing it with other weapons and Ashes of War.

Where to find the Claymore in Elden Ring

To find the Claymore in Elden Ring, you'll need to head south, deep into the Weeping Peninsula. From Southern Limgrave, cross the Bridge of Sacrifice and follow the road south until you happen upon a woman standing alone off to the side. She'll tell you of Castle Morne and the uprising that's since displaced her. The woman's father stayed behind to defend the castle, and she'll task you with delivering a letter to him. Side quests like this are a great way to find new weapons and explore new locations in Elden Ring.

While completing this side quest doesn't reward you with the Claymore, playing through it will grant you a valuable weapon worth pairing with the sword. You will, however, stumble upon the Claymore in Castle Morne, so think of this little quest as a "two birds with one stone" situation. Here's where to find the Claymore in Elden Ring.

Step 1: Head south from the Castle Morne Rampart site of grace. This site is slightly off the beaten path, so bear left once you see the castle over the horizon. You'll find a merchant nearby as well. See the image below for an exact location.

Step 2: Continue following the road south. You'll also find a map fragment for the Weeping Peninsula along this trail. Ride into the castle and activate the Castle Morne Lift site of grace.

Step 3: Ride the lift up and hug the left side of the courtyard. The mob of enemies to the right is too much to deal with, especially for new players looking to find the Claymore in Elden Ring. Instead, hug the left wall of the courtyard and deal with the dogs one by one. Do not go up the short flight of stairs. If you have a bow in your inventory, use that to take them out from a distance.

However, the easiest way to kill dogs in Elden Ring is to equip a shield (preferably one that negates 100% of physical damage) and let them bounce off it. The dogs stagger backward, leaving them open to a flurry of attacks. The Great Turtle Shell, the Jellyfish Shield, and the Brass Shield are all viable options. However, any shield will get the job done.

Step 4: After dealing with the dogs, keep hugging the left wall until you find a large pumpkin-head-looking enemy. You can either sneak around him or engage him. It's up to you. Whatever you choose, keep hugging the left wall and head through the narrow opening ahead. There'll be a feathery-bird-beast enemy to deal with. However, you can sneak up and backstab them.

Step 5: Head up the short staircase and climb the ladder at the end of the path. There's another bird-beast enemy at the top of the ladder, so be careful. If you still have that shield equipped, just hold it up and let them bounce off it.

From the ladder, walk straight ahead, jump onto the tent, and then jump over the wall. Head through the door and turn left. There, you'll find a treasure chest containing the Claymore.

Claymore attribute requirements and pairings

Once you've found the Claymore, you'll need to level up the correct stats to wield it. Thankfully, this won't require too many runes. To use the Claymore in Elden Ring, you'll need:

  • 16 strength
  • 13 dexterity

The Claymore comes with the Lion's Claw skill ("weapon art" for you Dark Souls 3 fans) without any enchantments. However, you can equip it with a litany of ashes from any site of grace. You may consider the Endure Ashes of War enchantment if you're playing a pure strength build. This works exactly like Perseverance in Dark Souls 3, briefly boosting your poise to tank through incoming attacks. Once you've equipped your desired ashes, make it a Heavy Claymore to increase your strength scaling.

As mentioned, the Claymore works with all builds (as long as you've allocated enough strength and dexterity). Those with high Intelligence can opt for magic or cold enchantments, whereas high faith builds can play with Flame Art enchantments.

Claymore weapon pairings

Remember that side quest we mentioned earlier? Finding the woman's father puts you in a position to unlock a fantastic weapon to pair with the Claymore and any other broad-swinging weapon.

Get back up to where you jumped over the wall. Instead of heading straight from the ladder, continue along the wall where that initial bird-beast enemy came from. Deal with a few more flying bird-beasts until you come to another ladder on the left side. Climb down to find some soldiers and bird-beasts fighting with each other. We recommend killing them, as it'll make the next part a little easier.

Head up the stairs ahead and talk with the knight sitting at the top of the tower. He's the leader of Castle Morne and the woman's father whom you've been looking for. However, he'll say he must stay to retake the castle.

Instead of walking away, attack him. You should get a few hits in before he actually gets up and strikes you back. Keep your distance, and let him miss before swinging. Watch out for his yellow blast attack. You'll notice him glowing before he launches it. The attack has a wide AOE, so roll back a few times to avoid it. Fighting him up on the tower makes it hard to dodge this attack. Instead, lure him down the stairs and fight in the more open area.

After killing him, you'll get the Banished Knight's Halberd. This weapon already comes upgraded to +8, and you can equip it with your favorite Ashes of War. We gave ours a poison enchantment, but it's totally up to you. The best part is the accessible attribute requirement for this halberd. You'll only need 14 strength and 12 dexterity to use it, attributes you already have if you're using the Claymore.

With the halberd in your left hand and the Claymore in your right, the duo makes a great poke/slash combo that staggers most enemies.

Is Elden Ring cross-platform?
Characters fighting on horseback in Elden Ring.

The various Souls and Souls-adjacent games that FromSoftware has developed ever since Demon's Souls have all introduced or iterated on new features that few, if any, other games ever attempted. We're talking about more than just difficulty, too. Things like how the games handle death, leveling up, currency, and story were all fresh takes in the industry. Perhaps the most ambitious -- and at times clunky -- innovation came in how the games handled multiplayer as a component. With Elden Ring being the latest in its catalog, many wondered how FromSoftware would change these systems, if it did at all.

Elden Ring is a Souls game at heart, only now viewed through the lens of an open-world experience. Fans of the studio's previous works will immediately recognize various multiplayer aspects, such as messages written by players and ghosts, and bloodstains showing the last moments of someone else's life. Summoning help, invading, or being invaded, however, is the real meat of what people expect from a multiplayer standpoint, and these all are back in Elden Ring. But with the game coming to every major platform, including past-generation systems, will you be able to play with friends on different systems? Here's all the info you need on whether or not Elden Ring is cross-platform.

Armored Core VI lives up to post-Elden Ring FromSoftware expectations
A boss fight in Armored Core 6

I don’t envy the position FromSoftware is in with Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. It’s the first title since the release of Elden Ring, a monumental, critically acclaimed title considered one of the studio’s best. It’s also reviving a series that hasn’t been seen in a decade for modern platforms and game audiences. On top of those things, because this isn’t a Souls game, a microscope will be on the title as FromSoftware fans scrutinize if it’s as good as other games, while Souls haters will wonder if this is finally a good FromSoftware jumping on point for them.

Street Fighter 6: how to enroll with every master
The player confronts Ryu in Street Fighter 6 World Tour.

If you want to be the best, you need to learn from the best. Street Fighter 6 lets you put yourself into the action by creating your own custom character who learns the art of fighting from both the iconic world warriors and a host of newcomers while advancing through the World Tour mode. Each master you pledge yourself to will unlock their own unique moves to add to your list of possibilities when customizing your moveset. You might think meeting all the characters would happen naturally through the story, yet you can easily complete the entire mode without encountering most of the masters. Let us give you your first lesson by showing you how to enroll with every master in Street Fighter 6.
How to enroll with every master

Each of the main characters included at the launch of Street Fighter 6 is considered a master, which results in a total of 18 to find. Some you will come across naturally as you play World Tour mode, but most are either hidden or require you to complete certain optional objectives to find. Here's each master and how you can find them to learn their special moves.
Luke
You will automatically be enrolled with Luke when you begin World Tour mode in Street Fighter 6. You can find and train with him at any time in Metro City at the warehouse marked on your map.
Chin-Li
Chun-Lu is also impossible to miss as you go through the story. Once you get to Chapter 2-1, your objective will be to fund Chun-Li in the Chinatown area of the map. Once you find her there, you can go back to that spot to train with her at any time.
Marisa
Further on in the story, when you get to Chapter 3-3, your objective will now be able to travel using the World Map to get to Colosseo. Once you arrive, Marisa will be introduced automatically. Just speak with her again afterward to become her student.
Blanka
The big green beast Blanka can be missed, but only if you don't bother exploring. After you get to Chapter 6-1, Luke will unlock the Ranger's Hut location on the World Map. Not only will you be able to become Blanka's student, but you will also get the Blanka Chan outfit.
Dee Jay
Also available in Chapter 6-1, Dee Jay is found in Bather's Beach. After a battle (regardless of if you win or lose), you will be able to enroll with this master.
Lily
Lily is the first tricky master to enroll with. During Chapter 4-1, you need to complete a side mission called "The Spirit Guide" that you can pick up from an NPC in Chinatown named Ana. After completing the quest, Thunderfoot Settlement will be unlocked on the World Map. Go there, speak to a few NPCs, and Lily will arrive in a cutscene. Once it ends, speak to her to enroll as a student.
Cammy
Cammy also is locked behind a side mission that you can go on during Chapter 7-1. The one in question is called "Special Unit Del-?" in Metro City. Head down to the subway to grab the quest, complete it by clearing out the subway, and unlock access to the stadium area on the west side of the map. Once you take care of all the enemies downtown, you can go back to King Street via the World Map to find and battle Cammy.
Jamie
Jamie is slightly tricky to find. You need to be in Metro City during the night and go into the Chinatown alley. He will be in the middle of a fight, leading to his intro, after which you can climb up the nearby ladder and onto the roof to speak and train with him.
Ken
After a long break, Ken will be the next unmissable master. Once you get to Chapter 8-3, you will get the mission "The Elusive Former National Champ" that sends you to go find Ken at a construction site. After getting the appropriate headgear, you can head to the site and  be introduced to him.
E. Honda
Not long after you encounter Ken, E. Honda will show up in Chapter 8-4 during the "Big in Japan" mission. Simply head to the restaurant to meet up with the famous sumo star.
Ryu
Ryu can be found next by traveling to Genbu Temple. Just walk up and speak to him to begin training.
Kimberly
Also unmissable, Kimberly will be introduced during Chapter 8-7 during the "High Flying Man" mission. Once the mission is complete, she will be posted up on the roof above your hideout.
Guile
Once you've finished Chapter 8-7, you can go learn from Guile by putting on the SiRN lab coat and talking to an NPC at the construction site to get a mission to go to the Carrier Byron Taylor. Go there, fight a bit, and he will jump in to help you out.
Manon
Following Chapter 7-3, when the "Extra" sidequest unlocks in Metro City's Beat Square, you will be taken to Fete Foraine automatically. After Manon introduces herself, you can speak to her again to become a student.
Dhalsim
The yoga master himself can be found by doing the "Yoga Statue" quest available starting on Chapter 9. Talk to Anik in Bayside Park in Metro City. Complete the quest to unlock Dhalsimer Temple on the World Map, where you can enroll with Dhalsim.
Zangief
The sidequest for Zangief also spawns when you hit Chapter 9. This time, you need to go to the stadium to find the "Hither and Thither" mission from some wrestlers. Finish up the quest and the Barmaley Steelworks will be added to your map. Zip on over and meet the master grappler.
Juri
Not available until much later in Chapter 11-4, you're looking for the "A Hardboiled Adventure" sidequest in Nayshall from Govind in the Bazaar. You will need to wait until Chapter 12 before you can fully finish this quest, but once done, you can ask to study under Juri.
JP
The last master you will find can only be encountered once you've fully finished World Tour mode. Once everything is wrapped up, go to Old Nayshall at night and go to the Suval'hal Arena Entrance. JP will be there waiting by the stairs around back for someone to come asking to train.
