A reel challenge? Here’s how to fish in Fortnite: Chapter 2

After almost two days of waiting (and a ton of hours probably playing the Galaga-esque mini-game), Epic Games has finally launched a quasi-reboot of Fortnite, its popular free-to-play game. Called Fortnite: Chapter 2, it boasts a Battle Royale mode that introduces a slew of new content, from items and vehicles to fresh ways to earn experience points, as well as new challenges and missions for you to enjoy.

How to fish in Fortnite: Chapter 2

Completing a specific challenge will net you a fishing rod, allowing you to fish in-game as shown in a previously leaked trailer uploaded online yesterday. Fishing is one of the newest pastimes you can partake in during battle and serves as another option for players to obtain new weapons (and even some actual fish). We are going to show you how to complete this challenge and snag the fishing rod.

Fishing Rod Locations

Finding an actual fishing rod is a lot easier than you may imagine. They are scattered all over the island, so there’s no need to kill each other over the item. Once a new match has started, you can either obtain the rod by opening a chest near a body of water or, if you find yourself on the north side of the map, venture over to Craggy Cliffs.

Once you have a fishing rod in your possession, you can start the challenge. Your goal is to catch a weapon with your rod. Head over to a body of water (any will do) and cast your rod.

There is no specific time frame for exactly how long it will take to catch a weapon. Just like real-life fishing, to find the gun, simply leave your rod in the water for a little while and then reel your line back to you.

Fortnite Fishing

A number of things can happen when you reel your line back in — you could snag a fish, a rusted can, absolutely nothing, or an excellent weapon for your inventory. Do not expect to catch a gun on your first cast; it may take a few attempts before you reel in a firearm. Keep in mind that you will still need to watch your back, as enemies will be out to kill you while you attempt to complete this task.

2 Jurassic Park games from your childhood are returning on modern consoles
Dr. Grant distracts the T-Rex in Jurassic Park.

Some retro Jurassic Park games that you might remember from your childhood are coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch as part of the Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection. Limited Run Games plans to reprint the games on their original platforms as well.
This retro collection will include the NES, Game Boy, and SNES versions of Ocean Software's Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park Part 2: The Chaos Continues. These were some of the first games based on the popular series, released in 1993 and 1994, respectively. The franchise continues to get games to this day, with the most recent being the park management game Jurassic World Evolution 2. Still, those who were fans of Jurassic Park in the early 90s and played lots of licensed games might have some fond memories of Ocean Software's titles that they can finally relive on modern platforms.
Limited Run Games handled the development of Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection and revealed its existence during today's LRG3 showcase. Limited Run Games used its Carbon Engine to add new features to the classic games, like save states, and plans to physically release the game. Outside of a $30 standard edition, a $65 classic edition will come with a steelbook and packaging themed after Jurassic Park's VHS case, and a $175 Prehistoric Edition will come with everything from the classic edition, plus a replica of Alan Grant's ID Card, a physical game soundtrack CD, and mini replicas of the original games' cartridges.

Even if you don't play on modern gaming platforms, Limited Run Games will actually be reprinting "retro editions" of Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park Part 2: The Chaos Continues on NES, Game Boy, and SNES cartridges. Priced from $50 to $65, the standard editions of these reprints will come on an amber-colored cartridge and come with a replica of the original game manual. A $100 collector's edition will also be available for each game and also have a numbered foil-stamped slipcover and double-sided poster for the Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection.
Preorders for the retro reprints and Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection will begin on September 1 and run until October 15. When the collection eventually releases, it will also be available digitally.

Animated image showing Fortnite Artifact Axe

Anyone who plays Fortnite long enough will come to love its yearly summer festivities, and as usual, this year's Summer Escape Event has proven to be a great time for players looking to engage in fun quests and earn new cosmetics. This week provides a new quest that tasks you with destroying 10 stones in battle royale mode, which offers you the reward of a new harvesting tool known as the Artifact Axe. If you're wondering what qualifies as a stone and how to destroy them, we'll give you the details below.
How to destroy stones in Fortnite to earn the Artifact Axe
First of all, you've probably hidden behind some of these stones before because, well, the game is actually just referring to the large rocks you can find scattered all across the map. Some are larger than others, but they're all easily identifiable and can be destroyed by smacking them repeatedly with a harvesting tool. In other words, you're quite likely to run across plenty of them playing naturally, especially if you spend any time in forests or along the coast.

If you're wanting to know of a spot that will help you knock the quest out quicker, you can try heading to the beach to the south of Kenjutsu Crossing at the bottom of the map.

The best places to land in Fortnite right now
Character landing in Fortnite.

Survival is key in Fortnite, and it all starts by picking the best starting location. Even if you're an expert player, your likelihood of coming out on top is greatly diminished if you start off on the wrong foot -- whether it be at a barren location with no loot or a hot drop that could lead to a swift death. As part of Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 3, there's no shortage of fantastic landing spots, but which one you choose comes down to your skill and preference, and you're going to want to pick the right one if you want to win Fortnite. So join us as we show you the best Fortnite landing spots for veterans, beginners, and everyone in-between.
The best places to land in Fortnite

Before jumping into the list, it's important to be aware of what makes a good landing spot. Sure, any place with decent loot might serve you well, but there's more to consider than that. Does a spot have a consistent chest/loot spawn? Are there guaranteed materials? Is it close to other places of interest (POI)s? Is it out of the way? Of course, loot is the most important aspect, but it does you no good to have a stacked loadout if you're stuck in the storm. These recommended landing spots all have some degree of consistency and fantastic loot, and typically have some quirk that makes them effective depending on your playstyle.
