Xbox has been attempting to break down as many walls as possible between players and the best Series X games. Game Pass has been its flagship service , providing easy access to singe-player and multiplayer games on as many platforms as possible. That now includes Fire TVs and certain Fire TV sticks. This new integration completely removes the need for people to purchase an expensive console and brings the barrier to entry down to just owning a controller. There are a few simple steps you need to take, but we'll make sure you can start playing ASAP, no console required.

How to play Xbox games on your Fire TV

There are three main things you need before you can start gaming on your Fire TV.

The first is, of course, a Fire TV or either a Fire TV Stick 4K Max or Fire TV Stick 4K.

Second, you will need any Bluetooth-enabled controller to connect and play. This can be anything from an Xbox controller to even a DualSense.

Finally, you will need a Game Pass Ultimate membership. This is the most expensive tier of Game Pass, but the only one that offers cloud gaming, which is how you will be accessing games. You can use your existing subscription if you have one, or you can subscribe within the Xbox app once you download it.

Step 1: Turn on your TV and go to the Amazon App Store.

Step 2: Search for and download the Xbox app.

Step 3: Once downloaded, sign in with your existing Microsoft account or create a new one.

If you have an account you are subscribed to Game Pass with, use this one. If not, you can subscribe within the app.

Step 4: Connect a Bluetooth controller to your Fire TV by going to Settings->Bluetooth Game Controllers->Add Bluetooth Controllers while your controller is on.

Step 5: When the TV detects your controller, select it from the list to pair it.

Step 6: Browse the Xbox Game Pass library for any game that has cloud streaming available and start playing!

Note that because you are playing games over the cloud and not downloading games, the visual quality and amount of lag you experience will be dependent on your internet connection speeds and strength.

3 new Xbox Game Pass games you should play this weekend (October 4-6)
Sifu's main character at age 70 in Sifu.

Later this month, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will receive its biggest day-one release ever with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Until then, we'll have to bide the time with other recently added Xbox Game Pass games. Thankfully, multiple games came to Microsoft's subscription service during Tokyo Game Show in September and one particular highlight just landed this week. If you're looking for something to play this weekend, these are the games you should be looking for on Xbox Game Pass.
Sifu
Sifu | Sloclap | Night Club Gameplay Teaser | PS4, PS5 & PC

Sloclap's Sifu is an intense action game with intricate hand-to-hand combat that feels like it could've been pulled right out of John Wick or a classic kung fu movie. It's incredibly satisfying for that reason alone, but Sifu's most unique hook happens when players die. With each death, players get a little more powerful but age up and lose a bit of health. This gives Sifu a one-of-a-kind difficulty curve because it gets easier and more difficult in different ways with each death. With lots of content and accessibility updates under its belt at this point, you'll have a fantastic time checking out the complete version of Sifu now if you've never played it before. Sifu is available to Game Pass subscribers across PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. It's also on PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.

2 critically acclaimed indies are coming to Game Pass this month
Sifu's main character at age 70 in Sifu.

Xbox is kicking off October with three new games coming to Game Pass, along with two from the Ultimate tier getting added to the Standard tier, the first time the company has had to make that distinction.

Inscryption and Sifu, two standout indie titles from 2021 and 2022, respectively, are absolutely worth checking out when they hit Game Pass this month. Sifu, coming on October 2, is a third-person beat 'em up with a twist: every time you die, you get resurrected as an older version of yourself. This brings some advantages, like new skills, but your health decreases. Sifu is less about defeating waves of enemies and more about improving as you go, becoming something of a kung fu master.
