How to remove a PS5 faceplate and install a new one

Beauty, they say, is in the eye of the beholder. If you’ve beheld a PlayStation 5 you may have noticed it is a massive console that sticks out with its solid white color scheme. Its bright, bold looks may not be for everyone, however. Fortunately, Sony has come out with a series of replacement covers, giving you the opportunity to change the look of the console to match your style. It may sound intimidating at first, but it’s actually one of the easiest customizations you can make and just takes a few minutes.

What You Need

  • An alternative PS5 faceplate

A new red cover for a PS5 in an unopened white box.

Before you get started

First, the obvious bit. Before you do anything to your PlayStation, make sure it has been turned off properly, disconnected from power, and, if you have just been gaming on it, has had time to cool. Remove any USB cables and accessories, and find a dry, clean surface to work. Have your new covers on hand and ready to install — no one wants a naked PlayStation in their living room.

Removing the top cover

The white plastic covers on the top and bottom of the PS5 snap into place, which makes removal easy. Place the console with the PS5 engraving to your top right. Press your thumb firmly into the plastic just below the logo, and slide the entire top panel to the left. The entire section will come off in your hand.

The white bottom cover of a PS5 has just been removed, exposing the fan.

Removing the bottom piece

Flip over your PlayStation, with the front of the console still facing you. Grip the upper-left corner of the plastic cover, and again apply pressure with your thumb. This time, you will be sliding everything to your right. It should give a small “pop” and come right off. We are ready to put the new covers on, but now may be a good time to clean out any dust or animal hair that has accumulated in the console.

Install the bottom

Locate the bottom cover, and align it just to the right of the console. Slide it into place, and press firmly with your thumb near the upper-left corner. A clicking sound will let you know the bottom is securely in place.

Install the new top

Flip the console around, again with the PS5 logo to your top right. Align the cover so that the PS5 cutout is just slightly to the left of the engraved logo on the console. Slide the cover from left to right, pressing near the logo as you do. One last click will let you know that your job is done. Congrats on having the most stylish PS5 on the block.

How to beat Mother Mind in Remnant 2
Three characters shoot at a boss in Remnant 2.

Remnant 2 comes with a pretty substantial number of bosses to take on across its various biomes, and some playthroughs will yield different encounters than others. So if you come across The Nameless Nest in Yaesha during your travels, you'll soon find yourself facing off against an optional boss named Mother Mind. This huge creature looks pretty scary, and if you're not sure how to handle the fight, it can put an end to the battle quite quickly by making you fall to your death. However, we'll share with you some tips for taking on Mother Mind and making the most of its big, ugly weak spot so you can drop this monster and get on with your business.
How to beat Mother Mind
Mother Mind is a mix between a standard DPS-driven boss battle and a mechanics-based encounter, meaning you'll need to dish out plenty of damage while also watching out for the enemy's special move that can send you spiraling down to an instant death. Because of this, be sure you're prepared to stay mobile and understand how to sprint and jump before entering the door to the creature, as you're going to be doing a lot of both.

The boss battle against Mother Mind takes place in a large, circular arena with a total of four stone platforms. You'll walk through the door facing the boss, and you can instantly begin firing at the cross-shaped weak spot on his face, getting in as much damage as possible right off the rip. If you have the Hot Shot weapon mod (or any mod that will grant additional damage per bullet), the beginning of this fight is a great time to pop it and move things along.

How to beat The Corrupter in Remnant 2
Remnant II Many Faces boss fight.

As you push through each of Remnant 2's biomes, you'll eventually come to a point where you'll have to face down one of its two possible final bosses. In the case of Yaesha, you're likely to run into The Corrupter, a hulking monstrosity that floats around the back of a battlefield and lets its guardian construct do most of the fighting for it. Whether you're tackling this tricky showdown alone or with some friends, it can be quite a doozy if you're not sure how to counter some of the mechanics coming your way. In this guide, we'll tell you how to strike down The Corrupter once and for all so you can head to your next destination.
How to beat The Corrupter
The Corrupter is located in The Great Bole in Yaesha, and you'll be facing the monster down in an arena that consists of three long stone walkways that are hovering in the sky. Falling from any of the walkways will result in instant death, so this fight is as much about careful footing as it is actually fighting.

The boss itself is floating around at the very far end of the arena, but it will spawn a guardian construct on one of the pathways that will follow you around. If you damage the guardian construct's head enough, it will eventually fall. This will cause The Corrupter to use some of its own health to heal the guardian construct. However, you can also just shoot at The Corrupter to deal direct damage to it. Depending on the method you use to kill The Corrupter, you can earn one of two rewards:

Emote wheel in Remnant 2

Remnant 2 is playable solo if you're the lone wolf type, but it's designed with cooperative play in mind. As such, Gunfire Games has included a variety of emotes for you to use to communicate with any pals you bring along on your adventure. Below, we'll tell you how to emote and give you a full list of all of your options so that you can be sure everyone knows exactly how you're feeling throughout your playtime together.
How to emote
How you access emotes will depend on if you're on a console or PC, of course. Console players can hold down on their controller's D-pad to access the wheel, while PC players will need to use G on their keyboard to do so. Once in the emote wheel menu, you can choose between five quick-select callouts meant to rapidly inform your teammates of something, such as requesting they follow you or letting them know what type of ammo you need.
