How to transfer your Marvel’s Spider-Man save from PS4 to PS5

Though it wasn’t the original plan, Insomniac Games has implemented a way to transfer your Marvel’s Spider-Man save from the PlayStation 4 to the Remastered PS5 version. The update has recently gone live, and while the transfer process works well, there are a few steps you need to take to get it to work.

In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how to transfer your PS4 save to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PS5, step by step.

Upload your save from PS4 version

Before you attempt anything, you’ll need to have both versions of the game: Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 and Remastered on PS5. You can use the digital or physical edition of the PS4 game — but keep in mind that Remastered is only available on PS5 digitally. Both need to be updated to their latest versions, and you must use the same PSN account across both.

To start, load up your copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4. This can be done via a PS4 or through the PS5 using backward compatibility. If you have the disc, simply insert it into the PS5 system. If you have a digital copy, you’ll need to specifically download the PS4 game onto your system. Make sure it’s the PS4 version and not the Remastered edition on PS5. To download it, head to your Game Library on PS5, and you’ll be able to categorize your list by platform. Filter it by PS4 games, and you’ll see your PS4 copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man here. Download it, and you’ll be ready to go.

Once you’ve booted up the PS4 version, press R1 from the game’s main menu to upload the save of your choice. You’ll get a notice that says “Upload Save?” Press X to continue, and assuming you’re connected to the internet and are using the game’s latest update, it’ll tell you it’s successful.

Overnight we released an update for Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 bringing those suits, and the ability to export your save to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered.

We also updated Remastered to allow import of those exported saves and with many additional fixes (incl. rest mode crash) https://t.co/LVnYVykc0Q

The next step is to boot up your copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PS5. After you’ve loaded into the main menu, press R1 to download the PS4 console save. A text box will then appear that reads “Download PS4 Console Save?” Press X to confirm, and it’ll tell you it’s successful. Now, you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off on PS4.

The best part is that every trophy you unlocked on the PS4 version will automatically unlock for PS5, meaning if you got the platinum the first time around, you’ll get it again with almost zero effort. Since there are two trophy lists, you’re basically double dipping, which is a neat feature for trophy hunters.

Turn your PS5 into a colorful throwback with these translucent faceplates
Purple Dbrand retro darkplates for the PlayStation 5.

Dbrand is back with new console covers, or as it calls them "darkplates," for PlayStation 5 consoles. These new Retro Darkplates are supposed to be throwbacks that mimic the colors of translucent Nintendo 64 systems.

This announcement marks the accessory manufacturer's grand return to making console covers for the PS5. Dbrand previously sold PS5 darkplates during the system's first year on the market, but Sony threatened legal action against the company. After that, Dbrand said at the time that it was forced to "submit to the terrorists' demands" and stopped selling darkplates. Sony ended up releasing colored console covers of its own in 2022. Clearly, Dbrand is now confident enough again in its product (or found a legal loophole) to start selling these darkplates for the PS5, and decided to base them on some of its viral social media posts.
These new darkplates come in four N64-inspired colors: Atomic Purple, Ice Blue, Fire Orange, and Smoke Black. The side panels are translucent, while Dbrand also provides a cover for the black center bar on the PS5, which makes it look like it's translucent as it shows an image of the system's innards. If you choose to buy a Retro Darkplates kit, you'll get one Retro Darkplate set, one hue-matched retro middle and bottom skin, three left light strips, three right light strips, and a microfiber cloth.
