Kingdom Hearts is leaving Xbox Game Pass, but 15 new games are joining

The Kingdom Hearts series is leaving Xbox Game Pass at the end of the month. That’ll happen just after 15 new games join the service, including new EA Play titles.

On May 31, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue both leave the console version of the service. The games were never available on the PC version due to Epic Games Store’s exclusivity deal on the platform.

While that’s a loss for fans, Xbox Game Pass is adding 15 more games by the end of May. Conan Exiles is one of the bigger names in the batch, hitting Cloud and Console on May 27. Other notable additions include Maneater, Slime Rancher, and SnowRunner.

Three EA games are coming to service this month through Game Pass’ EA Play partnership. The multiplayer dodgeball game Knockout City will launch on console, PC, and cloud on May 21. Peggle 2 and Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville join the cloud line-up on May 20.

For longtime Xbox fans, there’s one notable surprise here: Fuzion Frenzy is coming to Microsoft’s cloud service on May 27. The multiplayer party game was an original Xbox launch title in 2001.

Grand Theft Auto V makes its surprise return to Xbox Game Pass today

Xbox Game Pass is kicking off July with a major surprise, as Grand Theft Auto V has returned to the service. Rockstar's sales juggernaut leads an otherwise light month for Game Pass, which brings Capcom's Exoprimal as a day-one launch.

This isn't the first time that Grand Theft Auto V has been on Game Pass. It was previously on the service circa 2021 but removed from it that August. Rockstar has a history of putting its games on Game Pass for a brief window before pulling it, as it also did with Red Dead Redemption 2.

After an uneven console cycle with the Xbox One, Microsoft's latest consoles are aimed at getting the ship back on course. The Xbox Series X is a next-generation powerhouse that rivals gaming PCs, while the Xbox Series S is an affordable stopgap for those who are curious about trying new games.

There's no shortage of games to play on either console thanks to Xbox Game Pass, which gives players immediate access to a library of titles old and new. That built-in catalog is an extra value on top of all the new games available on the system that take advantage of its impressive technical specs. When it comes to first-party exclusives, the Series X is still growing. Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 gave a good boost to the console's library following a somewhat sparse first year. More games are also on the way. Microsoft's Bethesda acquisition will bring exclusives like Starfield and the potential addition of all Activision Blizzard games would further bolster that list, but the console's real strength lies in third-party support.

When I think back to 2022, there are a ton of critically acclaimed games that stick with me. Naturally, I spent countless hours adventuring through the Lands Between in Elden Ring. Splatoon 3 and Vampire Survivors ate up my entire summer, while I still think about Pentiment and Immortality months later. There's one lesser-known game, though, that was a go-to I kept coming back to throughout the year despite the fact that it wasn't talked about nearly as much as any of those games.

That would be Arcade Paradise, a quiet 2022 standout that's now available on Xbox Game Pass today. Developed by Nosebleed Interactive, it's a unique simulation game that balances 90s nostalgia with a thoughtful look at the line between hobby and work. If you spent any time during your youth hanging around arcades, you'll want to give it a try while it's on Game Pass.
