Latest Humble Bundle serves up digital PlayStation 4, PS3 games

Humble Bundle’s latest pay-what-you-want digital compilation includes a broad selection of console titles from publisher Capcom, including standouts like Resident Evil HD, Devil May Cry HD Collection, and Mega Man 9 and 10.

In a first for Humble Bundle, all of its current offerings are redeemable on PlayStation 4 and PS3 consoles via PlayStation Network digital codes, giving buyers access to console versions of all featured titles. Proceeds benefit the American Red Cross, Rettysyndrome.org, and Save the Children charities.

All Humble Capcom PlayStation Bundle buyers will receive digital copies of Mercs series sequel Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3, revamped competitive puzzler Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and the arcade retro-gaming two-pack Final Fight Double Impact, which includes emulated versions of Capcom’s Final Fight and Magic Sword.

Buyers also get their choice of either the PlayStation 4 or PS3 version of 2014’s Strider reboot, along with a digital coupon that drops 45 percent off the PlayStation Network price of Capcom’s flagship one-on-one fighter Street Fighter V.

Purchases that exceed the average buy-in price among all Humble Store customers (currently just over $12) will unlock digital copies of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Lost Planet 3, Okami HD, Remember Me, and Mega Man 9 and 10 for the PlayStation 3. Gamers who beat the average will also get Resident Evil HD for either the PlayStation 4 or PS3.

Humble Bundle additionally offers a $15 tier that features all beat-the-average content in addition to bonus digital copies of Devil May Cry HD Collection for the PlayStation 3 and Resident Evil 0 Remastered for the buyer’s choice of either the PS4 or PS3. Buyers who kick in $15 or more will also receive a 50 percent off coupon for the PlayStation 4 version of Capcom’s 8-bit platformer compilation Mega Man Legacy Collection.

The Humble Capcom PlayStation Bundle will be up for grabs through September 6.

3 PlayStation Plus games you need to play this weekend (May 10-12)

The weekend is here, so you probably want to sit back and relax by playing some video games. If you're subscribed to PlayStation Plus Premium or Extra on PS4 or PS5, then there are tons of fantastic titles to choose from in the subscription service's vast game catalog. It's a lot to sift through, so I've handpicked three titles I think you should check out if you haven't played them already.

One is a superhero game that launched alongside the PS5 and can be beaten within a weekend. The next is an eerie indie Metroidvania that just got added to PS Plus Extra when it launched on May 9. Finally, there's a sequel to a fantastic roguelike (not Hades 2) where you play as a new person in the same family every time you die.

3 underrated PS Plus games you should play this weekend (May 3-5)

PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra have been around for almost two years, and during that time the subscription service has established itself as an ample competitor to Xbox Game Pass. That means there is a wealth of great games for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners to check out if they're looking for something to play this weekend. I think PS Plus subscribers should be looking toward some of the more underrated games in the subscription service this weekend too.

I have three particular picks in mind. The first is an enjoyable Metroidvania that came to PS Plus' game catalog when it launched just a couple of weeks ago and deserves a lot more attention than it's getting. After that, there's an action-platformer that pays homage to series like Ninja Gaiden that you should check out before it leaves the catalog. Finally, there's a PS2-era Star Wars game that fills the niche a recently canceled game would have.

Sony’s cloud handheld, the PlayStation Portal, will only stream certain games

Sony has unveiled the price for its upcoming cloud gaming handheld, as well as an official name for the device: PlayStation Portal. However, one significant caveat to its functionality might sour people's interest in the handheld: It only supports PS4 and PS5 native games that the owner purchased.
PlayStation VR2 games can't be streamed to PlayStation Portal, which does make sense. More bafflingly, though, is the fact that the PlayStation Blog post states that "games that are streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium’s cloud streaming are not supported." That means you shouldn't pick up PlayStation Portal expecting to stream some PS3 and PS4 games available through PlayStation Plus Premium to the device. That's certainly an odd omission when it's currently PlayStation's most notable cloud gaming effort.
Although Microsoft is more closely associated with cloud gaming, Sony beat it to releasing a dedicated cloud gaming device. PlayStation Portal was first teased as Project Q during May's PlayStation showcase, but now, a PlayStation Blog post more clearly explains what we can actually expect from the handheld. Most importantly, we learned that PlayStation Portal will cost $200, which puts it underneath the cost of a Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series S, and other cloud gaming devices like the Logitech G Cloud Handheld.
As for what you're getting for that price tag, it's essentially a decent screen attached to two halves of a DualSense controller. The controllers on each side share all the functionality of the DualSense, including things like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. In-between is an 8-inch LCD screen that streams games over Wi-Fi at up to a 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. All in all, that's fairly solid for a cloud gaming handheld that is this cheap.
Sony confirmed that the PlayStation Portal will have a 3.5mm audio jack, but also used the same blog post to unveil two new wireless audio options. There's the Pulse Elite wireless headset that features a retractable boom mic and a charging hanger and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds that offer similar audio quality in earbud form.
None of these products are available for preorder or have a specific release date just yet, but they are all expected to launch before the end of the year.
