Limbo dev’s next game and 18 other indie games coming to Xbox One

limbo devs new inside leads dozens indies coming xbox one

Phil Spencer took to the stage wearing a Limbo t-shirt to announce Inside, the next game from PlayDead Studios. Limbo debuted on Xbox 360 before sweeping a host of other platforms to become one of the biggest indie games in recent memory. The new game Inside will launch as an Xbox One exclusive in early 2015.

Inside doesn’t stray far from PlayDead’s wheelhouse as another platformer where a little boy jumps, ducks, and sneaks his way through a stark, shadowy world. The new game trades Limbo’s spiders and forests for a more industrial nightmare full of dangerous machinery and zombie-like office workers.

Inside is being released as part of the ID@Xbox program, which supports indie development and self-publishing utilizing the full capabilities of the console (eight controllers, live, smartglass, etc). Following the longer tease of Inside, they treated fans to a fast-moving montage of other indie games en route to the Xbox One in the next year.

These indie games are coming to Xbox One:

  • Aztez
  • Knight Squad
  • Plague Inc. Evolved
  • White Night
  • Earthlock: Festival of Magic
  • Cuphead
  • Hyper Light Drifter
  • Lifeless Planet
