One of the many games revealed at Sony’s E3 press event was the long-awaited sequel to LittleBigPlanet, now ready for  the PS4. The game has taken a focus toward co-op gameplay, showcasing four characters all with their own ways to experience the game’s many puzzles.

The game was showcased by a team of players all working together with their various abilities to get past traps and other troubles. While the iconic Sackboy returns with his many gadgets, also included are three other characters, each with new abilities.

  • Oddsock is fast and can wall-jump
  • Toggle is able to switch between big and heavy, and small and light

Of course, LittleBigPlanet is about more than just solving puzzles. The game is also about creating those puzzles, and the third iteration offers all sorts of tools and pieces to help users create interesting and unique puzzles to solve. On top of this, the game willto support the millions of levels already made for previous LittleBigPlanet games with some fancier graphics to support the PS4’s more powerful hardware.

According to President of Sony Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, the game won’t be out until around the holidays. Let’s hope the wait is worth it for PS4 owners.

However, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is telling everyone not to count it out just yet. Gaming's governing body has announced that E3 will be returning in 2023.

ESA President and CEO Stan Pierre-Louis said in an interview with The Washington Post that E3 2023 will combine both in-person and digital elements. He attributed the success of last year's virtual E3 to the expanse of its reach to fans and journalists around the world who couldn't afford to fly to Los Angeles for the convention or couldn't attend it for other reasons. He added that people still want to connect and network with each other in person.
