Major UK Chipper Arrested

Do you know what a chipper is? It’s the name for someone who illegally modifies games consoles, using circumvention devices to let them play pirated copies of games.   Last month one of the main chippers in the UK was arrested, following a raid on his house in Stoke-on-Trent, according to Vnunet.   The arrest followed months of investigation, both by Staffordshire Trading Standards and the Entertainment & Leisure Software Publishers Association (Elspa), which purchased several chipped consoles from the man.   During the raid, 200 chips were found in his house, along with 2 PCs, 20 Xbox 360s and four Wiis. All were seized. After his arrest, the unnamed man was bailed to appear later. Now there’s an investigation to determine how much he might have made from his crimes.   Michael Rawlinson, Elspa’s managing director, said,   “This raid proves that increasing numbers of games criminals are paying the price for pursuing illegal chipping business activities."

Battlefield 2042 has two major patches on the way, but neither add voice chat
A soldier in a helicopter in Battlefield 2042.

With its rocky launch just five days ago, Battlefield 2042's developers have been busy patching out its issues, with two more massive game-changing updates one the way. Titled Update 2 and Update 3, the first is set to arrive on November 25 while the second is slated for early December. While the patches both touch on issues like performance, server stability, and balancing, neither adds in one of the game's sorely missed features: Voice chat.

God of War teased these 3 major hints about Ragnarok’s story
Kratos and his son sit by a fire in God of War Ragnarok.

It feels like God of War came out forever ago, despite the fact that it was only released in 2018. That's before the pandemic, before I worked a terrible food service job, and right when I graduated from college, which feels to me like a lifetime ago. However, after replaying it recently (a whim that was spurred on by my deal with a devil for a PS5), I've realized just how much of that game I forgot. I forgot how good it felt to throw Kratos' axe and have it return to his hand, and so, so many of the tender moments he shares with his son, Atreus. But most of all, I forgot just how much the game alludes to the upcoming Ragnarok.

After beating God of War, it's pretty clear that the next game would be taking place during Ragnarok, or at least lead up to it. However, there are tidbits of lore and one-liners throughout the game that hint toward the more specific details of Ragnarok, both the upcominh God of War game and the event itself. These details come pretty quickly, so it's fair if you've missed them, but anyone who hasn't played the game recently almost certainly won't remember.
