More specifically, the press release read: “The McFarlane Toys action figures will be released in conjunction with the highly anticipated launch of Titanfall 2!”
But not too long after the story appeared the game’s publisher Electronic Arts clarified that the date itself is only for the toys, and that EA has “yet to provide a release date for the next Titanfall experience from Respawn.”
In partnering with Respawn Entertainment to make a line of action figures based on Titanfall 2, McFarlane boasts that the toys feature “the same meticulous level of detail that McFarlane has become known for over the last two decades.” McFarlane Toys is well known for delivering figures for games like The Walking Dead, Halo, and the Japanese animated series Attack on Titan. The Titanfall 2 toys will pose seven inches tall, have an average of fifteen movable parts, and will come with what the manufacturer calls “screen accurate accessories and weapons.”
The toy maker’s owner and CEO, Todd McFarlane, added that he was quite excited about the partnership. He said, “McFarlane was created so I could make cool stuff just like this,” and offered praise for the sequel. “Without saying too much about the new game … You’re not going to believe where we can take this.”
Titanfall 2 will be the first game of the franchise to feature an extensive single-player campaign. It’s said to be multiplatform, and Respawn is collaborating with its partners on mobile spinoff games as well as a possible TV series.
While the toy manufacturer’s press release was countered by EA’s follow-up, the company didn’t deny the game’s suggested release window. It could be that the developer is simply doing this as a standard procedure, meaning the game’s winter 2016 release is still a very feasible possibility given the McFarlane Toy’s original press release.
