Mobile sensation Threes now playable in-browser for free

Sirvo’s smash hit mobile puzzler Threes is now playable in a browser window free of charge, making it easier than ever to jump into a game and waste many otherwise-productive hours.

The new browser version of Threes follows up on multiple ports released in the wake of its initial launch in February of 2014. The in-browser port of Threes is compatible with a number of devices ranging from desktop computers to mobile phones, and is freely playable with no ad breaks, interruptions, or paywalls.

Threes is a sliding-tile puzzler in which players must merge numbered squares in order to earn a high score. Tiles with the same face value can combine to form a square with a larger point value, and more tiles enter the playfield with every move.

The core challenge in Threes involves positioning squares so that they’re likely to join up with like-numbered tiles within an increasingly crowded playfield. As the screen fills with tiles, matches must be carefully planned in advance, or players risk becoming overwhelmed with unusable squares.

Threes was a hit with critics, and a number of clone games hit mobile app stores shortly after its initial launch. Clone games like 2048 toned down Threes‘ high degree of difficulty, making for a more accessible (if watered-down) experience.

Despite Threes‘ popularity, developers Asher Vollmer and Greg Wohlwend faced difficulty in making their creation consistently profitable. An Xbox One edition with Snap support targeted the console market in late 2014, and an ad-supported, free-to-play version of Threes found success earlier this year in mobile app storefronts.

“It’s been working out pretty well,” Vollmer stated in response to a question regarding the free-to-play edition during a recent Reddit AMA. “One concern was that it might cannibalize sales of the paid version in some way but it seems to help out the paid version.”

Vollmer continued: “It is nowhere near the kind of reach that we’d of [sic] got if we released the original version for free, but that’s some hindsight nonsense. We’re definitely happy we made a free option for people to try, I feel it has been financially worth it and has really increased our audience. Now I even see Threes on the train sometimes!”

In addition to the free web version, Threes is also available as an app for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices.

Marvel Snap road map reveals new competitive mode, token shop rework
marvel snap friendly battle mode impressions key art

Second Dinner released a road map that revealed several significant updates coming to Marvel Snap over the next couple of months, including a new competitive mode called Conquest and revamps of the mobile card game's Token Shop and ranked modes.
The developer went into more detail about all of these features in Marvel Snap's in-game blog. Conquest was thoroughly explained, and we learned it's a competitive version of Friendly Battles' health-based fights. Conquest mode will be split into multiple leagues (Proving Grounds, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Vibranium, Infinite), and players must win three consecutive battles in one to move up to the next and get better rewards. Players will be rewarded with Conquest medals, which can then be used in a new cosmetic-driven Conquest Shop. This major new feature is expected to launch in June, but some updates are coming before then.
In Marvel Snap's next patch, Second Dinner will increase the number of Collector's Tokens players get from opening Collector's Caches and Collector's Reserve, and add the ability for players to claim a free Series 3 card once per season. This should shorten the amount of time it takes to get new cards, and set the stage for a Token Shop revamp in April. That rework will make the Marvel Snap Token Shop much more comprehensive by featuring new Series 5 cards in a weekly spotlight and giving Series 4 and 5 cards their own dedicated shop sections.
More modes and easier card acquisition have been some of the most-requested things from Marvel Snap players since launch, so it's great that Second Dinner will finally deliver on these fronts in the coming months.

Looking at the long term, the road map also teases several features that are in the development in concept stages at Second Dinner. These updates include widescreen support on PC, Smart Decks, the ability to equip avatars and titles by deck, personalized shops, global matchmaking, social Guilds, card emotes and emojis, mythic variants, PC controller support, season audio, and a Test Deck mode that will let players try out certain deck builds in an unranked mode against AI.
Marvel Snap is available now for PC, iOS, and Android.

You'll find a lot to get into on the freshly revamped map, and some of it may even be a part of the season's weekly quests, such as the Week 1 challenge "Destroy objects while drifting or boosting in a Nitro Drifter." In this guide, we'll tell you where you can find a Nitro Drifter racing car to knock out this challenge quickly and easily.

With the addition of multiple new vehicles in Chapter 4 Season 2, you'd be forgiven for not knowing precisely which one is a Nitro Drifter (pictured above). This colorful street racing car can be found in multiple spots around the map, but it's most plentiful in and around Mega City -- which unfortunately isn't one of the best places to land in Fortnite, due to it being a hotspot. If you don't want to deal with all of the competition you're certain to face in downtown Mega City, your best bet for finding plenty of Nitro Drifters is by landing at the racetrack to the north of the city.

You can still get a Thunder Shotgun in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. Here’s how
Fortnite characters in a city.

Fortnite has received plenty of exciting new weapons in Chapter 4 Season 2, and in typical fashion, Epic has also vaulted some of last season's weapons to clean up the loot pool. Among the weapons vaulted for Season 2 is the Thunder Shotgun -- but weirdly, it can still be obtained, as it appears Epic possibly overlooked one NPC who drops it.

Anyone who wants to score the Thunder Shotgun in Season 2 can head over to Frenzy Fields and look for the NPC named Sunflower who walks around the farm. Simply eliminate her and pick up the weapon she drops. It's unclear if this is actually something Epic missed, or if the team just simply didn't want to bother changing up Sunflower's loot drops. Either way, it's currently the only way to obtain the Thunder Shotgun.
