More Portal 2 content coming this summer, and it will be free (Updated)

The game may have been released less than two weeks ago, but plans for more Portal 2 content is already in the works, according to a Fast Company interview with members of Valve. To be fair, plans for the DLC (downloadable content) were probably in the works long before the game was even released, but this is the first confirmation of new DLC being released into the wilderness.

“We will be announcing some DLC for [Portal 2], so folks can keep a look out for more content coming this summer. We’ll be putting more details out about that in a week or so. We’ll support that with more videos or more comics.”

The rest of the interview discusses the making of the game, so it isn’t clear exactly what the DLC will contain, nor whether it will be geared towards the single player campaign, the co-op campaign or both.

Although full sales figures haven’t been released for April yet, it appears that Portal 2 is a hit. The current problems with the PlayStation Network may be hurting the PS3 sales (as well as any PS3 games with an online component), but the other platform sales should be doing well, regardless.

In the meantime, Portal 2 is available now (check out our review) on Mac, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

[Update:  After this article was posted, Valve released a statement confirming that the DLC will feature new test chambers, leaderboards, challenges for single and multiplayer and more.  The developer also announced that the content will be free, and that it will be available on all platforms.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 finally gets its fall release date at Summer Game Fest
Spider-Man Peter Parker and Miles Morales fighting Kraven and henchmen

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 officially has a release date. During the Summer Game Fest, Insomniac Games revealed that the game is scheduled to release on October 20 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. The stream also featured a few new details about the game, including new information about its villains.

Spider-Man 2 recently appeared at the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase, so it wasn't surprising that there wasn't any new footage at the Summer Game Fest. However, Insomniac presented new concept art, including one with Peter Parker and Miles Morales fighting side by side and another with the two Spider-Mans fighting Venom.

The Outer Worlds 2: release date speculation, trailer, and more
A person in a spacesuit looks out over and alien landscape in the trailer for The Outer Worlds 2.

Not to be confused with The Outer Wilds, the indie title that launched in the same year as The Outer Worlds, The Outer Worlds 2 is an upcoming sequel to the dystopian sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, which Xbox announced during E3 2021. The original game was often referred to as a Fallout game but in space, which makes sense because Obsidian was responsible for what many consider one of the best, Fallout: New Vegas. It was a well-received game, though not without some flaws, leading many to wonder whether or not this new universe would ever come back. Many (including us) were surprised to see news about this game, and while there isn't much to go on just yet, we can make a few informed guesses on details we will get later on. For now, here's everything we know, and suspect, about The Outer Worlds 2.
Release date

The initial reveal not only didn't have a release date, but was itself a parody of teaser trailers that have little to no information in them. All we can do for now is speculate on when we think The Outer Worlds 2 will actually be ready. The Outer Worlds came out near the end of 2019, but the last chunk of DLC for the game didn't hit until the end of 2021. The best-case scenario would be that a smaller team handled the DLC while another small team got to work on preproduction on the full-fledged sequel, but it is also possible that there was a gap of time before it was actually greenlit.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: release date speculation, trailers, gameplay, and more
Dragon's Dogma 2 key art featuring a knight with a fiery hole in their chest.

In a world where even the smallest audiences are being catered to with sequels like Neo: The World Ends With You and No More Heroes 3, there's basically no game that doesn't have a chance to come back in some form. In one of the latest examples, a small but passionate fanbase has been waiting patiently for a sequel to the very ambitious Dragon's Dogma. This action RPG came out next to some stiff competition in 2012, and despite having some great mechanics and systems plus a re-release, it never hit mainstream success. With the creator and director moving on to work on other games, this series was presumed dead for a long time.

As soon as Capcom announced that it would be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Dragon's Dogma, fans immediately predicted the announcement of a sequel. After all, why else would Capcom celebrate an anniversary for a franchise it had no intention of continuing? As it turns out, we were all correct. Dragon's Dogma 2 is finally being worked on. The excitement of this announcement has spilled out beyond the fans of the original, leading many to wonder why they should be excited about this sequel. For all that and more, here's everything we know about Dragon's Dogma 2.
