NCsoft Kicks Off Full Auto Assault Debut

NCsoft today said Auto Assault, the first massively multiplayer online game set in a post-apocalyptic world featuring vehicle combat, had begun commercial service globally. The game is priced at $49.99 here in North America, with a monthly subscription fee of $14.99 being tacked on top of that after the first month of online play.

In Auto Assault, said NCsoft, players choose from one of three races to compete against one another in a post-apocalyptic Earth setting. Players can customize many different vehicles to create their own fleet of “death machines” and can go on missions with others or own their own, create unique items and play in player versus player combat.

As an incentive to get players to sign up within the first thirty days of the game’s release, NCsoft is also offering a “veteran rewards” program.

“Auto Assault is a truly unique game, and a fantastic addition to our catalog,” said Robert Garriott, CEO of NCsoft North America, in a statement. “There is nothing like it in the MMO game space — it is easy to play, fast, and very fun. Auto Assault gives players the best of action games, the best of role-playing games and a super-cool world to discover and destroy.”

Street Fighter 6 shows off its new style in debut trailer
Chun Li fighting other girl

This summer's PlayStation State of Play was packed tight with big names, including Street Fighter 6. Capcom revisited the highly anticipated follow-up to its flagship fighting game series with a detailed trailer that showcases the setting, gameplay, and versus mode, including cameos from Ryu and Chun-Li. It looks slick, even if it's shifting the art direction from what Street Fighter fans already know.

Street Fighter 6 stars a new protagonist called Luke -- introduced in the first few moments of the trailer. We see him training at a martial arts gym in what looks like New York City. Heck, the Statue of Liberty is pictured in a zoomed-out shot of the harbor. Like Street Fighter 5, it seems that Street Fighter 6 will have some kind of story mode. It involves some open-world exploration, where Luke will meet roam the streets of New York and take on familiar fighters from the series. Ryu and Chun-Li appear, along with other newcomers Jamie and Kimberly.
