Nintendo Wants to Help Train Your Brain

Nintendo today said they were rolling out a new game for their DS portable gaming platform which is designed to provide fun mental workouts which incorporate the gaming device’s voice-command and touch-screen capabilities. Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day is available now.

Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day, said Nintendo, is the American version of Japanese title which has already sold over two million units. It provides users with exercises like memorizing words, counting and tracking people as they enter and exit a house, and drawing lines to connect letters and numbers in alphabetical and numeric order. It also includes more than 100 sudoku puzzles.

Adults with little or no video gaming experience don’t have to worry about complicated button mashing,” says Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales & marketing, whose Brain Age is 30, in a statement. “Brain Age is just the latest example of Nintendo’s commitment to creating software for a broad range of consumers with varying levels of experience.”

Reggie Fils-Aimé is one of the most recognizable people in gaming. From the moment he made his public debut on the E3 stage in 2004, declaring his intention to kick ass, take names, and make video games, he’s projected a larger-than-life image that gamers responded to. Since leaving Nintendo in 2019, he’s written the best-selling book Disrupting the Game: From the Bronx to the Top of Nintendo, been a judge for Rogue Jam, a reality show focused on indie games, and joined various boards and leadership positions in education and business. Digital Trends had the chance to sit down with Reggie at PAX West to discuss the state of the video games industry and bestow upon him a new title: The President of Video Games.

Publisher Electronic Arts and developer Full Circle have released a new video for the upcoming Skate game, with early "pre-pre-alpha" footage. The developer assures fans it's still working on the highly anticipated game and is even requesting play testers to assist in the game's creation.
