Nokia this week made several pushes into the mobile gaming arena as it made various E3 related announcements. In summary, they are:
- Nokia unveiled a new mobile gaming platform based on the old N-Gage, the core of which is a “pre-installed application which allows consumers to easily find, buy and play rich and immersive games on a range of Nokia Nseries multimedia computers and other Nokia S60 devicesâ€. These games are designed specifically for mobile devices. Also part of this new platform is community aspects of the N-Gage Arena.
- Nokia and mobile video games publisher Gameloft announced a partnership which will make the latter’s games more easily available to Nokia mobile device owners. As part of this new partnership, Gameloft will develop a number of their franchises for Nokia’s next generation mobile games platform which is expected to launch in the first half of 2007.
- Nokia debuted six game titles at E3 for their upcoming new mobile gaming platform. These titles include Creatures of the Deep (fishing adventure), One (fighting game), Pocket Aces (poker), Pro Series Golf (sports), Space Impact (arcade game) and System Rush: Evolution (3D racing).
