Nokia: N-Gage is Back, Sort Of

Nokia this week made several pushes into the mobile gaming arena as it made various E3 related announcements. In summary, they are:

Nokia unveiled a new mobile gaming platform based on the old N-Gage, the core of which is a â€œpre-installed application which allows consumers to easily find, buy and play rich and immersive games on a range of Nokia Nseries multimedia computers and other Nokia S60 devicesâ€. These games are designed specifically for mobile devices. Also part of this new platform is community aspects of the N-Gage Arena.
Nokia and mobile video games publisher Gameloft announced a partnership which will make the latter’s games more easily available to Nokia mobile device owners. As part of this new partnership, Gameloft will develop a number of their franchises for Nokia’s next generation mobile games platform which is expected to launch in the first half of 2007.
Nokia debuted six game titles at E3 for their upcoming new mobile gaming platform. These titles include Creatures of the Deep (fishing adventure), One (fighting game), Pocket Aces (poker), Pro Series Golf (sports), Space Impact (arcade game) and System Rush: Evolution (3D racing).

Just a decade ago, the idea of games being free or letting you play with people online on different consoles was almost unheard of. All games cost full price, and you had to make sure you and your friends all bought the same console or you couldn't play online together, even if it was the same game. That's just the way it was and we accepted it. Fast forward to today and we're drowning in great free games, but also enjoying the rise of cross-platform games. Naturally, there's a huge crossover between these two where there are as few barriers as possible to getting you and your friends to play. These are the best games you can play no matter what platform you're on and not have to spend a dime.

Is Remnant 2 cross-platform?

Aside from the focus on firearms and integrating some randomly generated environments, the Remnant series sets itself apart from other Soulslikes such as Elden Ring and Lords of the Fallen mainly with its focus on co-op. Both titles encourage you to team up with two friends to fight your way through the mutated monsters that await. After so many years of progress in terms of multiplatform games incorporating full cross-platform support, you might assume Remnant 2 will follow suit and let you make a group with anyone regardless of what platform they're on. Before you make plans with your squad, here's what you need to know about Remnant 2's cross-platform support.
Is Remnant 2 cross-platform?

At launch, Remnant 2 lacked any cross-platform functionality, meaning you were forced to only play with those on your specific platform the same way it works with Palworld. However, the developers eventually managed to add full cross-platform support to the game in an update and now you can play with friends no matter what platform they are on.

For years, Valorant was one of the best PC games and an exclusive to that platform. Due to the game requiring twitch reflexes and pinpoint aiming to land those critical headshots similar to Warzone or Apex Legends, many assumed it would never come to consoles. It may have taken a while, but Valorant is now playable on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Given that players on those systems will be using controllers instead of keyboard and mouse, PC players might be wondering if they will have a host of easy targets coming into the game. That would only be true if Valorant makes it onto our list of all cross-platform games, though. Pick your agents and buy your guns and armor before we rush the site and see if Valorant has cross-platform support.
Is Valorant cross-platform?

Valorant has partial cross-platform support similar to Fallout 76. Console players on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S can freely play with and against one another, but PC players will remain locked on their own ecosystem. This makes sense since the PC crowd would have a massive advantage playing on keyboard and mouse rather than with controllers, even with a heavy helping of aim assist.
