Is Payday 3 cross-platform?

The PayDay series made a name for itself among the other contemporary co-op shooters of the time by putting players in the role of criminals attempting to pull off various heists. Each game in the series has upped the ante on more creative and fun places to burgle, break into, and extort for the titular payday. The latest entry, PayDay 3, offers plenty of new content as expected, but retains that core formula of teaming up with friends to coordinate the perfect job. However, it has been many years since the last entry so this will be the first exposure to the series for many players. With the game being available on all platforms, and even included at launch on Game Pass, you may want to stake out this article to learn if PayDay 3 supports cross-play.

Does Payday 3 have crossplay?

Yes, PayDay 3 fully supports crossplay between all platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. When booting up the game for the first time you will be prompted on whether or not you want to enable cross-play, so simply accept it and you will be good to go. If you select to not enable it, you can always switch it back on in the settings menu.

You will also be required to create a Starbreeze account before playing, which also means that PayDay 3 fully supports cross-platform progression. In short, you can not only play with anyone on any system, but you are free to transfer your progress between platforms as well.

The best free cross-platform games
Several characters from Genshin Impact in key art.

Just a decade ago, the idea of games being free or letting you play with people online on different consoles was almost unheard of. All games cost full price, and you had to make sure you and your friends all bought the same console or you couldn't play online together, even if it was the same game. That's just the way it was and we accepted it. Fast forward to today and we're drowning in great free games, but also enjoying the rise of cross-platform games. Naturally, there's a huge crossover between these two where there are as few barriers as possible to getting you and your friends to play. These are the best games you can play no matter what platform you're on and not have to spend a dime.

Dishonored 3: everything we know so far
Key art for Dishonored

The Dishonored series has always been a critical darling, and it has cultivated a small, but passionate fan base. The original game got some DLC, a sequel in Dishonored 2, and one last entry called Death of the Outsider in 2017, but since then the franchise has remained dormant. The studio's latest game, Deathloop, shares some DNA with Dishonored, but is certainly its own beast. However, since the success of that new IP far exceeded anything Dishonored had achieved, many fans felt we'd never return to Dunwall to see the conclusion of the story. That sentiment only got more traction after Arkane Austin was shut down in 2024, but it was actually Arkane Lyon that made the Dishonoredgames, so hope isn't quite dead yet. Thanks to the recent leak of some court documents related to the Activision purchase by Xbox, which owns Dishonored publisher Bethesda, new hope has appeared for the existence of Dishonored 3.
Release window

According to the leaked documents, which we should still take with skepticism until an official public statement is made, Dishonored 3 is currently planned for a "FY24E" release. FY24E is shorthand for Fiscal Year 2024, which runs between April 2024 and March 2025. Considering how close we are to the end of that planned time frame with no announcement, we assume this timeline has been pushed back at least a year.
Platforms
Again, this is just speculation until the game is officially confirmed, but considering that Xbox owns publisher Bethesda, Dishonored 3 is almost certainly going to be an Xbox console exclusive with a PC port. However, it may only be a timed console exclusive as more Xbox games are coming to PS5. It should also be available as a day one Game Pass title, as all Xbox first-party titles are.
Trailers
As mentioned, Dishonored 3 isn't even meant to be known about publicly yet, so no marketing exists for the game. All we have is the name.
