PS Plus is adding Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and more heavy hitters

On October 18, Sony will add a hefty list of games to the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalog, including Grand Theft Auto: Vice City — The Definitive Edition. The company shared the full list of titles being added to the games library, featuring over 20 new games. The lineup is comprised of a wide variety of games from the Dragon Quest and Assassin’s Creed series, along with a handful of horror gems, as well.

These are the new games coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium this October.

With the exception of Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia, and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, all of the games listed above can be played on PS5 either natively or through backward compatibility.

Remember, these games are only available for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, which is part of Sony’s new game subscription initiative that launched earlier in 2022. These titles join the “free” Essential games for the month of October, which include Injustice 2, Hot Wheels Unleashed, and Superhot.

PS Plus adds Evil Dead, OlliOlli World, and more in February

PlayStation Plus Essential's February game lineup was announced today, and it consists of four titles: OlliOlli World, Evil Dead: The Game, Mafia: Definitive Edition, and Destiny 2: Beyond Light. These games will be available to download starting February 7. Overall, this is a really solid batch of games.

OlliOlli World was one of my personal favorite games of 2022 because of its amazing level design and 2D skateboarding gameplay that only becomes more fun as you get better with the game. "Like the best games of the genre, it knows that easy-to-learn-but-hard-to-master mechanics, rewarding obstacles, and high speeds that test one’s reaction time are the hallmarks of a great platformer," I wrote in a four-and-a-half star review of the game last February.

The PlayStation 5's game library is full of fantastic titles for all gamers. It's home to several critically acclaimed exclusives like God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and Stray, among others — there are almost too many great games to keep track of (or afford to purchase). Thankfully, Sony has PS Plus, a game subscription service similar to Xbox Game Pass that allows members to download and play a growing library of PlayStation games for a small monthly fee.

Rockstar reportedly declined to make a Grand Theft Auto movie that could've starred the world-famous rapper, Eminem. The late Top Gun director Tony Scott was also reportedly considered to direct it.

On the Bugzy Malone podcast, Earthworm Jim director Kirk Ewing said that he spoke with Rockstar's Sam Houser in his hotel room one night about making a GTA film.
