Sea of Thieves alliances guide: how to join and benefits

Sea of Thieves Fire
Rare / Rare

There are ways in which you could play as a solo pirate in Sea of Thieves, but adventuring is so much more fun and rewarding when you’re part of a crew. Once you’ve gotten a handle on how to play the game, taking on voyages and attacking other players with fellow pirates is where the real fun begins. Alliances make it much easier to coordinate and team up with your fellow scallywags, but how you form them and all the benefits they can provide are somewhat obfuscated. It isn’t as simple as joining a party through a menu like in other games, so follow our treasure map to learn all about how alliances work in Sea of Thieves.

Alliances aren’t made in menus, but require you to do some work in-game. Just like real pirates, alliances are determined by what flag you’re flying. When you’re sailing near a ship you want to partner up with, climb up your crow’s nest and interact with the flag box. Go to the Alliances tab and choose the Offer Alliance flag. If the other ship is also flying that flag, you can then change your flag to the Join Alliance flag to fully form the alliance. There is no limit on how many ships can be in an alliance at once in one game.

If you ever want to end your alliance, you can just go to the flag box again and choose the Leave Alliance flag, and you will be a solo pirate once more. Alliances will also end when you or the other players leave the game.

What are the benefits of an alliance?

Rare

There are several reasons why you would want to form an alliance in Sea of Thieves. The most obvious one is that any ship you are in an alliance with will be visible to you on your Map Table, and vice versa. Also, all allied crews will have their names displayed in purple to be easier to identify. When you place a Voyage on your Voyage Table, it will also appear on all your alliance members’ tables as well. You can also find any treasures associated with alliance members’ Riddle or X Marks the Spot Maps. The biggest benefit, though, is that all rewards earned are shared. If you sell a treasure, not only do you get the full value of it, but any players in your alliance will get 50% of the value too. The only exceptions are Broken Emissary Flags and Reaper’s Chests, which are not shared. Finally, you are allowed to revive downed alliance members while on their ships.

Just know that being in an alliance does not prevent you from attacking and killing the other members. so don’t automatically assume you can trust someone just because you’ve joined an alliance with them.

Once you run through all the playable characters, you might start to get a little comfortable with the match types available.

That's where Happy Friyay Party and Extreme Party come in. These game types are limited-time events, meaning they only show up during specific windows of time. If you want to clean up the competition in some fresh modes, here's when you can play them.

Palworld type chart: How elemental types work in Palworld
A Tocotoco in Palworld.

Many people refer to Palworld as Pokémon with guns, but that's selling the game short. Sure, you can and will use a host of firearms to fight Pals, but the Pals themselves also have types just like their pocket monster counterparts. And just like in the game that inspired it, Pal types play a huge role in which ones are more effective against the others. Some elemental weakness will be obvious, but the system does work slightly differently than that you might be used to. Here is how elemental types work in Palworld and how all the types interact.
How types work in Palworld

Right off the bat, Palworld has nine different types. Unlike Pokémon, though, each type (with the exception of fire and neutral) is only weak and strong against one other type. That means each Pal will only be weak to one specific element, but since Pals can learn moves from other elements, they can be effective against multiple types. Here are all the types, what they're strong against, and what they are weak against.

How to rank up fast in Modern Warfare 3: best ways to farm XP
A soldier with a shotgun pointing to shoot in Modern Warfare 3.

Every year when the new Call of Duty title drops, the playing field is once again reset as everyone needs to start grinding back up the ranks. Fully embracing the RPG elements, Modern Warfare 3 once again allows you to earn XP as you play match after match to rank up your character, with each rank not only bringing you closer to hitting prestige but also unlocking new options for your chosen operator. Your player rank is unique from your weapon levels and can take a lot longer to grind if you don't know the most efficient methods. If you want to fast-track your career through the ranks, here are the fastest ways to earn XP in Modern Warfare 3.
How to earn XP fast in Modern Warfare 3
There's basically no way you can play Modern Warfare 3 without earning XP, but some modes and methods can earn you double (or more) what you could if you were just playing without a plan.
Play the objective

We all love playing team deathmatch or any other mode where all you need to worry about is being the one to shoot first. However, if you want to earn that sweet XP fast, you need to choose one of the objective modes like Domination, Hardpoint, Ground War, or even Kill Confirmed. Not only do you get XP for killing enemies, but the amount you get on top of that for playing the objective can make up the bulk of your XP gain. This is especially true if you're not at the top of your game and end up dying more than you kill since you have another method to contribute. Also, objective modes grant you an XP bonus just for finishing the match.
