Shadow of the Colossus Wins Best Game Award

Sony’s adventure game “Shadow of the Colossus” won the best game of 2005 award from the International Game Developers Association at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose. Colossus also won awards for Best Visual Arts, Best Character Design, Best Game Design, and a special award for innovation.

Majesco’s “Psychonauts” won the award for best writing, and its developer, Double Fine Productions, took home an award for Best New Studio.

Richard Garriot, creator of City of Heroes and City of Villains, earned a Lifetime Achievement award, and Chris Heckler of Maxis/EA took home an award for Community Contribution. And if you remember Atari’s original Adventure game, which opened up a whole new era in gaming in just 4K, you’ll be happy to know two of the game’s creators, Will Crowther and Don Woods, received individual awards, as did Harmonix founders Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy.
