Sony plans PlayStation 5 unveiling for June 4, games and all

Sony announced it will hold its long-awaited PlayStation 5 unveiling event at 4 p.m. ET on June 4.

Sony’s invite says the company will discuss “the future of gaming” and will focus on some of the games that will be released alongside the PlayStation 5 later this year.

“The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe,” Sony Interactive Entertainment chief Jim Ryan said in a blog post accompanying the announcement. He added that the stream will be just the first unveiling, and promised more updates in the coming weeks.

Sony’s event comes just weeks after Microsoft held its own virtual event, where it showcased some of the games coming to the Xbox Series X this holiday season. Sony has been slower than Microsoft to provide updates on its next-gen console but did showcase a controversial new DualSense controller design last month.

Still, Sony’s slow pace could suggest a build-up to this key event, Piers Harding-Rolls, the games research director of Ampere Analysis, suggests.

“I’m expecting this event to focus on areas where Sony is traditionally strong: games development expertise and, with what I hope will be the full reveal of the PS5, product design,” Harding-Rolls said in a statement. “We’re now well into the phase where console early adopters expect to know more about the games that will be available at launch, so this event and Microsoft’s upcoming streams are crucial to build consumer anticipation.”

However, he added that other details like the PS5’s price point still might have to wait.

“The COVID-19 crisis and the economic situation means that choosing when to confirm the pricing is more of a challenge, and, in the current climate, it probably makes sense to wait longer before the reveal,” Harding-Rolls added.

Turn your PS5 into a colorful throwback with these translucent faceplates
Purple Dbrand retro darkplates for the PlayStation 5.

Dbrand is back with new console covers, or as it calls them "darkplates," for PlayStation 5 consoles. These new Retro Darkplates are supposed to be throwbacks that mimic the colors of translucent Nintendo 64 systems.

This announcement marks the accessory manufacturer's grand return to making console covers for the PS5. Dbrand previously sold PS5 darkplates during the system's first year on the market, but Sony threatened legal action against the company. After that, Dbrand said at the time that it was forced to "submit to the terrorists' demands" and stopped selling darkplates. Sony ended up releasing colored console covers of its own in 2022. Clearly, Dbrand is now confident enough again in its product (or found a legal loophole) to start selling these darkplates for the PS5, and decided to base them on some of its viral social media posts.
These new darkplates come in four N64-inspired colors: Atomic Purple, Ice Blue, Fire Orange, and Smoke Black. The side panels are translucent, while Dbrand also provides a cover for the black center bar on the PS5, which makes it look like it's translucent as it shows an image of the system's innards. If you choose to buy a Retro Darkplates kit, you'll get one Retro Darkplate set, one hue-matched retro middle and bottom skin, three left light strips, three right light strips, and a microfiber cloth.

GTA 5 cheats: codes and phone numbers PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC
Trevor, Franklin, and Michael prepare to hunt someone in the forests outside of Los Santos.

Cheat codes have been a mainstay of the Grand Theft Auto series for years. From spawning a few vehicles to loading your gun with flaming bullets, cheat codes turn GTA 5 into a god game, where you can control the parameters of the sandbox you're playing in, so it's no surprise it's one of the bestselling games of all time. No matter what platform you're playing on, these GTA 5 cheats and secrets will work. But keep in mind: Cheats stop you from earning trophies and achievements while they're live, so keep them for playtime only.
How to use GTA 5 cheats
There are a few ways to enter GTA 5 cheat codes. The first and easiest is to use your cellphone. You can open your cellphone by pressing Up on the D-pad. From there, enter the corresponding number, and the cheat will fire. You can also classically input cheats by following a specific button combination. The combinations are the same across PlayStation and Xbox, but we've split them up to account for their different button-naming conventions, so it should feel more natural reading and entering them.

All cross-platform games (PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC)
Two squads of heroes clash in an Overwatch 2 trailer.

Cross-platform support is becoming more important in the world of video games. Multiplayer hits like Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Fortnite have pushed crossplay into the limelight, and now most AAA multiplayer games release with at least partial cross-platform support. Finding every cross-platform game is no easy feat, though, so we did the hard work to bring you a comprehensive list of games that support crossplay.

Unfortunately, there aren't any rules when it comes to crossplay, so each game handles the feature a little differently. To make matters more confusing, certain backward-compatible games on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X still support crossplay on the most recent hardware, even if there isn't an official release for that hardware.
