Spider-Man save data will carry over to the PlayStation 5 remaster

Insomniac Games announced that PlayStation 4 save data for Marvel’s Spider-Man can be transferred to the PlayStation 5’s upcoming remaster of the game. The studio previously that players would not be able to move their data between consoles.

“We have heard you — in an upcoming update for #SpiderManPS4, we will add the ability to export your save to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered,” Insomniac tweeted. “We expect to bring you this update around Thanksgiving.”

Back in September, Insomniac tweeted that save data would not be transferable from the original version of the game to the Remaster. The decision drew the ire of the game’s fans, Some of whom weren’t happy with the idea of starting the game from scratch. That anger was on top of complaints that players who own the original will not get a free upgrade to the remastered version.

The free update will bring three new suits from the remaster over to the PlayStation 4 version, including the Arachnid Rider and Armored Advanced suits. Insomniac confirmed that the suits will be available to everyone regardless of whether or not they have beaten the game.

Those who want to upgrade their standard copy of Spider-Man: Miles Morales to gain access to the remaster of its predecessor can do so via an in-game menu for $20.

The update isn’t slated until around Thanksgiving, so players won’t be able to move their data over until a week or two after the game’s launch. Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which includes the remaster of Marvel’s Spider-Man, is out November 12 alongside the PlayStation 5.

After a 20-month wait and several smaller presentations, we finally got another PlayStation Showcase where we saw what's next for first-party, third-party, and indie games on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2. Third-party studios also showed up, with Square Enix unveiling a multiplayer game called Foamstars, Alan Wake 2 and Assassin's Creed Mirage getting release dates, and Konami announcing a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. PlayStation reveals new features and UI for its PS5 Access Controller

Sony revealed new details about its PlayStation 5 accessibility controller, which has been renamed from Project Leonardo to the Access Controller. A new blog post details what comes with the controller and offers a glimpse at the UI interface that players will use to customize it on the PS5.

Sony surprise revealed its "Project Leonardo" at CES earlier this year (Digital Trends named it the best gaming tech of the show). The circular pad features a unique design meant to make it easier for people with disabilities to customize controls to their needs. While it still doesn't have a price or release date, Sony has opened a new website for its newly renamed Access Controller and shared new details on it.

You need to read this free Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 prequel comic

While Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is supposed to come out sometime this fall, we don't actually have that much information on the video game's narrative or any other differences from its predecessors. That's why those looking forward to the game should check out the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 prequel comic, which was previously released physically, but is now available for free on Marvel's website.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (2023) No. 1, which was written by Christos Gage and illustrated by Ig Guara, was released physically on May 6 for Free Comic Book Day. Now, just a few days later, Insomniac Games and Marvel have followed up on their promise to make the book available digitally for free, so you can easily read it on Marvel.com.
It's a breezy read that doesn't contain many shocking revelations, but gives more context on what Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Mary Jane Watson have been up to since the events of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. In terms of new villains introduced here that could show up in the game, the Spider-Men fight The Tarantula, an arachnid-themed assassin, and The Hood, a gang leader who's trying to use magic for personal gain.
On the more character-focused side of things, we learn that Peter, Miles, and MJ are now all working together as a tight crime-fighting unit. Peter is now trying to get a teaching certificate and to convince MJ to move in with him. As Peter now lives in Aunt May and Uncle Ben's old house in Queens, that could mean we'll get to explore more boroughs of New York City in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Meanwhile, Miles decides to pursue a Music Technology major at Empire State University, and J. Jonah Jameson decides to buy back ownership of the Daily Bugle.
There's little more than a passing mention of Norman Osborn, and we don't see Harry Osborn, Kraven, or Venom in action, so there aren't any must-know reveals from this free comic. Still, it's worth a read if you want to get reacquainted with this Marvel universe, the headspace of the heroes within it, and the gadgets they use ahead of Marvel's Spider-Man 2's launch.
