Star Wars Eclipse is a new game being developed by Quantic Dream

A new Star Wars game was just announced at the Game Awards. The game is titled Star Wars Eclipse and it seems to be set in the High Republic Era of the series, which is dubbed a golden age of Jedi.

Star Wars Eclipse is an all-new video game IP for the series, not connected to any past series titles. It’s likely that this entry will be an interactive cinematic experience similar to past games from its developer, Quantic Dream, which has delivered games like Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain, and Beyond Two Souls.

The official trailer for the game describes it as “an intricately branching action-adventure game that can be experienced in many ways, and puts the destinies of multiple playable characters in your hands.” This makes it even more likely that it will fall more in line with past Quantic titles, possibly with a more action-focused twist.

The game will feature never-before-seen species and planets of the Star Wars universe, taking place in the Outer Rim. Like many pieces of Star Wars media, Star Wars Eclipse will have a focus on the political side of the world from long ago in a galaxy far, far away.

While we got a good cinematic look at Eclipse, there are no details on its release date or what consoles it will be released on just yet. However, you can keep up to date with the game and any subsequent news on it on its official website, where you can sign up for updates.

Tetris Forever includes a new game with a time-warping twist

Tetris has had too many variants to count during its lifetime, but the latest installment of the series is unlike any of them. Tetris Forever is a playable documentary from Digital Eclipse, the team behind this year's Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story, which includes several classic games. It's not meant to be an exhaustive collection bringing together every game in the series. Rather, it's an interactive history lesson filled with archival material, original interviews, and a selection of games that tell its story.

When it releases on November 12, players will be able to dive into obscure titles like Hatris and Super Bombliss alongside standard Tetris. There's one big twist coming in the package though: Tetris Time Warp. The new game is an original creation by Digital Eclipse that's a sort of playable extension of its documentary efforts. Ahead of its release, Digital Trends got a closer look at Tetris Forever and its wealth of historical material. Our hands-on session included a few rounds of Tetris Time Warp, a charming project that's only making a must-own package even more enticing.
Let's do the Time Warp again
If you've played The Making of Karateka or Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story, you should know what to expect with Tetris Forever. The project is laid out into five chapters, each one containing an interactive timeline. If you follow that from start to finish, you'll get a full history lesson on Alexey Pajitnov and how Tetris came to be. The project doesn't just tell that now familiar story, though. As I poked through the timelines, I found a lot of surprising references. One slide showcased Pokémon Tetris, an oddball spinoff made for the even-odder Pokémon Mini. Another showed McDonald's recent chicken nugget handheld, which could run Tetris.

The game will make the occasional splash in the headlines, but after more than 12 years of hype, even the most diehard fans are getting impatient. Yes, it's playable, and honestly, it's a great experience — but it still lacks some of the most-anticipated features. That's why it's such a big deal that Cloud Imperium said that Squadron 42 is nearly finished after years of development.

Squadron 42 is the single-player spinoff of Star Citizen. Cloud Imperium's annual Citizencon event — a Star Citizen-focused gathering — is running this weekend and ends later today. Squadron 42 received an extended gameplay trailer more than an hour in length (although, fair warning, a solid chunk of that is cutscene) and an updated release date of 2026.

While this year's South Park: Snow Day was a disappointment, the two Ubisoft-published games that preceded it narratively are stellar. One of those, the superhero-themed South Park: The Fractured But Whole, just came to Xbox Game Pass. This game perfectly captures the handcrafted look of the show with its art and the franchise's crass humor through its increasingly ridiculous story about Cartman, a new kid, and their other friends pretending to be superheroes. It's a surprisingly well-made grid-based tactical RPG, making it a significantly better game than it may seem on the surface.
