Sony’s second State of Play presentation of the year just took place. It gave us a clearer look at what we can expect from PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2’s video game lineup throughout the back half of 2024. That includes first-party games like Until Dawn’s remake, Concord, and Astro Bot. Some impressive third-party titles like Dynasty Warriors Origins, Ballard of Antara, and Monster Hunter Wilds also showed up but had 2025 release windows.
If you play a lot of games on your PS5, you definitely won’t want to miss anything that PlayStation Studios or any of its third-party partners revealed over the course of this State of Play. For your convenience, I rounded up every announcement made during this State of Play right here.
Concord finally gets a gameplay debut
Sony-owned Firewalk Studios first teased the sci-fi multiplayer game Concord during a PlayStation Showcase last year, but we didn’t actually know that much about the game itself. We finally got a better idea about it through another cinematic trailer and gameplay reveal. The cinematic trailer shows some of the main characters fighting each other over a device. We then saw what that’d actually look like in gameplay: a 5v5 first-person hero shooter where the heroes are called Freegunners. It’s certainly reminiscent of games like Overwatch and Lawbreakers. Concord will be released for PC and PS5 on August 23, with a beta taking place in July.
God of War Ragnarok is the next PS5 game to come to PC
The latest in a long string of PC ports, Sony has confirmed that God of War Ragnarok will grace PC on September 19. It looks like it will be the same exact base game and Valhalla experiences that players got on PS4 and PS5, just with all the bells and whistles we’ve seen in recent
Dynasty Warriors returns with a 10th entry in 2025
Dynasty Warriors is a long-running action game series and the centerpiece of the Musou genre, where players use combos to take out giant hordes of enemies as they take over their bases. That said, it hasn’t seen a new entry since 2018’s Dynasty Warriors 9, as Omega Force has focused on Musou spinoffs like Persona 5: Strikers, Hyrule Warriors, and Samurai Warriors. That’s set to change next year with Dynasty Warriors Origins, a current-gen Musou game that we got a first look at during this State of Play. It sports impressive realistic visuals and horseback combat and will be released sometime in 2025.
Until Dawn comes to PS5 and PC this fall
We finally got another look at the upcoming PS5 and PC remake of the PS4 horror game Until Dawn during this State of Play. It certainly seems like a better-looking version of Supermassive Games’ excellent choice-driven narrative adventure. We also got a more specific release window. The remake of Until Dawn will be launching for
Astro Bot returns this September
Team Asobi showed up at today’s State of Play to unveil its first game since the excellent PS5 launch title Astro’s Playroom. It’s just called Astro Bot and looks like a full-blown sequel to Playroom with over 50 new levels as well as new abilities like being able to fly with the DualSense or grow large. It also has some boss fights against gigantic creatures. Astro Bot will be released for
