Summer Game Fest, Geoff Keighley’s annual summer event full of new game reveals and trailers will return for its fifth edition on June 7.

Although Summer Game Fest 2024 had already been teased, the Summer Game Fest team laid out more specific details about its 2024 festivities today. The headlining Summer Game Fest kickoff reveal live stream will take place at 2 p.m. PT on June 7. It will be live-streamed across platforms like YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok, and there will also be a live show at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. Tickets for the live show will go on sale on May 7. Since it’s still a few months out, no games have been confirmed for Summer Game Fest 2024 at this time; you can check out what was announced at 2023’s show to get a better idea of what kinds of games tend to show up, though.

As has been the case for the past several years, the Summer Game Fest showcase will be immediately followed by Day of the Devs: SGF Edition, which will focus specifically on games from independent developers. A press release says Day of the Devs: SGF Edition 2024 “will feature more than a dozen incredible games from game developers of all different backgrounds.” The SGF Play Days Event will then take place in LA between June 8 and 10 but will only be accessible to the press and influencers.

Interestingly, the press release unveiling all of these dates for Summer Game Fest 2024 teases that “fans can look forward to other live streams and events during this year’s Summer Game Fest,” although whether that constitutes other Summer Game Fest-produced live streams or showcases from companies like Microsoft remains to be seen.

The last Steam Next Fest event of the year is upon us. Valve holds one of these events every few months on Steam and encourages developers to share demos and early looks at their upcoming PC games. Only indie developers participated initially, but more high-profile studios chipped in recently. That’s only makes it harder to find some of the best games on offer, as hundreds of demos are available.

I played several demos featured in October 2024’s Steam Next Fest ahead of the event, and I want to spotlight my favorites. From strategy RPGs to dumb physics-based platformers, these seven Steam Next Fest demos are worth checking out.

Nintendo’s new hardware announcement isn’t the Switch 2. It’s an alarm clock

Nintendo dropped an unexpected announcement on Wednesday -- and no, it's not the one we've been waiting for. In the vein of novelty gadgets like the Labo VR headset, the company will release an alarm clock that can track your sleep and tell when you're still in bed.

The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo will cost $100 when it releases in early 2025, although Nintendo Switch Online members can preorder it now, but just in the U.S. and Canada. It seems it'll be available at some standard retailers, although like other oddball Nintendo creations, it'll probably be in limited supply.

Red Dead Redemption coming to PC 14 years after its release

Red Dead Redemption, the open-world RPG that kicked off the now classic Western franchise, is coming to PC for the first time since it launched over 14 years ago.

Rockstar Games announced that both Red Dead Redemption and its zombie standalone title Undead Nightmare will be coming to Steam, Epic Games Store, or the Rockstar Store on October 29 in one package. Players will also get bonus content from the Game of the Year edition, although the studio didn't specify details. The project comes from Rockstar and port and remaster studio Double Eleven.
