Game publisher THQ today said they ported over their popular Zoo Tycoon franchise game to the Nintendo DS portable gaming system. Zoo Tycoon DS is shipping now. Zoo Tycoon DS gives Nintendo DS players the ability to purchase and adopt animals such as lions, giraffes and tigers. These animals live in a virtual zoo environment which has guests wandering through it. Players who are successful at running their zoos can unlock new animals and environments as the game progresses. THQ said Zoo Tycoon DS would have exclusive to it an “animal card” collection feature through which players can collect fact cards on some of the more popular animals. "We are extremely excited to bring the Zoo Tycoon franchise to the Nintendo DS, as the popularity of this brand is sure to translate well to the handheld market," said Richard Browne, Director of Product Development. "The DS technology, including the dual screens and touch screen, allow for seamless life simulation gameplay, giving fans a whole new way to experience Zoo Tycoon."
