Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will have RPG-like multiclassing

Gearbox and 2K have revealed two more character classes and information about multiclass potential in the upcoming Tiny Tina’s WonderlandsIn a new gameplay trailer, the companies showed off the Graveborn and the Spore Warden, bringing the number of potential classes in the game to six. The trailer also revealed “multiclassing” will be possible in Wonderlands: By combining two classes and their traits and abilities, players can create hybrid classes and have access to more abilities and traits than ever.

Welcome to Wonderlands #3: Spore Warden and Graveborn - Tiny Tina's Wonderlands

There will be six classes in the game: Stabbomancer, Brr-Zerker, Spellshot, and Clawbringer, which have already been revealed, and the Graveborn and Spore Warden, which were shown off in the new trailer.

At the start of the game, players will only be able to choose and specialize in one class, but further down the line, they’ll be able to choose a secondary class to open up even more potential skill trees and combo opportunities. Each class has one Class Feat, which is a static bonus or companion. They also have two potential Action Skills, of which one can be chosen, and a skill tree with options for passive abilities.

The Graveborn’s source of power is their health. While they’re capable of dishing out heavy punishment with Dark Magic and a Demi-Lich companion, they must sacrifice their own health to do so. The Demi-Lich can cast spells of its own, giving the Graveborn a little help against large hordes of enemies. Graveborns also have unique skills in their skill tree, including a Kill Skill that summons a variety of minions to take on foes and Action Skills that brutally sacrifice foes.

Like the Graveborn and their Demi-Lich, the Spore Warden also has an assistant: The Mushroom Companion, who can spray toxins that target enemies. Spore Wardens themselves can call on nature to assist them, drawing up chaotic events like tornadoes and arrow barrages to slow down enemies. They can also buff their allies through certain skills and keep enemies at bay with disabling attacks. They’re best played at a distance, like a sort of plant-based sniper.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands launches on March 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is Borderlands and not Borderlands
The player fights a mechanical dragon spewing hot flame.

I still remember where I was when the Borderlands 3 trailer dropped. Fresh off my third or fourth replay of Borderlands 2 and its (literally) magical DLC, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, I watched the trailer in my college dorm room while on the phone with my friends. When the premiere finished, we all sat grinning ear to ear, babbling on about whether the next numbered entry in the franchise could live up to its lofty predecessor. Unfortunately, it didn't.

With Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Gearbox has gone in a different direction. The game takes its cues from Assault on Dragon Keep, one of the most critically acclaimed DLCs of all time, and dramatically expands its scope and ideas into an entirely new package. Beyond the usual endless array of guns and loot, Wonderlands introduces RPG-style stats and classes to the franchise, making for a deeper -- if more complex -- experience.

PS Plus members get Borderlands 2’s best DLC ahead of Wonderlands
Master assassin Zer0 fights off a dragon in Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep..

Sony has revealed the PS Plus lineup of games for February 2022, and it includes Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure, EA Sports UFC 4, and Planet Coaster: Console Edition.
Overall, it's a pretty odd and underwhelming month for the service after a strong showing in January. The PS4 version of Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep is a standalone version of the best DLC for Borderlands 2. It's so good that it's getting a full spin-off with Tiny Tina's Wonderlands this March and got a standalone release in November 2021 to build hype for the new game.

That said, the DLC was also included in Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, which was free with PS Plus in June 2019. Those who have been subscribed to PS Plus for a while may already have access to this game on PS4, which is the version Sony is giving away on PS Plus. While Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep is one of the best DLCs of the past decade, it's a really weird choice all-around for PS Plus.
Meanwhile, UFC 4 is EA's latest UFC-branded mixed-martial-arts sports game and was released in 2020. It contains the career and multiplayer modes players have come to expect from sports games but doesn't contain EA's controversial Ultimate Team mode.
Finally, Planet Coaster: Console Edition is a theme park construction and management game where players get to create and manage parks with wild roller coasters and themes. For fans of the classic RollerCoaster Tycoon games, Planet Coaster is the best modern interpretation of that formula. Keep in mind that only the PS5 version of the game will be available through PS Plus.
These PS Plus titles will be available from February 1 until February 28, 2022.
