Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection releases in less than a month, and if you still haven’t picked up a PlayStation 4, then Sony has the perfect way to get on board: an Uncharted bundle will be launching the same day as The Nathan Drake Collection, and it won’t cost you any more than a standard console.
Unlike the recently announced Star Wars Battlefront bundle, the PlayStation 4 included with The Nathan Drake Collection appears to be the standard, no-frills black console. The official product page for the bundle says that the PS4 is “the one and only place you can experience developer Naughty Dog’s groundbreaking Uncharted trilogy all in one place,” which is technically true, as the game’s digital voucher includes all three games as opposed to the separate discs and downloads of the original PS3 games.
Sony is no stranger to offering remastered Naughty Dog games in PlayStation 4 bundles. Just last year, The Last of Us: Remastered was offered in a similar bundle, offering a digital version of the game along with the standard 500 GB console.
SCEA’s John Koller calls the bundle “perfect for anyone who wants to uncover the story of the famed fortune hunter for the very first time” before the delayed Uncharted 4 finally hits the PlayStation 4 next March. Having skipped the PlayStation 3 last generation, I fall into that camp, having only played the Vita-exclusive Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
If you also plan on buying Uncharted 4 next year, you might want to start saving up some extra cash. A $120 “Libertalia Collector’s Edition,” featuring a Nathan Drake statue, steelbook, artbook, and even stickers, continues Naughty Dog’s tradition of excellent collector’s editions, and they have a tendency to go up in price quickly; the current asking price for the “Post-Pandemic Edition” of The Last of Us on Amazon is $700, and it comes with a comparable selection of items.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection arrives Oct. 9.
