Here’s where you can buy the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One today

With so many of us stuck at home, the video game industry has benefited as people look for ways to pass the time. As a result, it’s a bit difficult to find a retailer with consoles in stock. Have no fear: We’ve combed through dozens of retailers to not only find ones with the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in stock but those that are shipping quickly.

Some retailers are prioritizing “essential” items right now, which means you could be waiting much longer than you would otherwise. Here are our picks for the best places to find the most popular consoles.

Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch has proven to be a stay-at-home favorite thanks to its portability — you can use it as a console or a handheld — thus the name. But it’s also tough to find, and right now there are no retailers with consoles in stock at regular retail prices. We are noticing some consoles on eBay, but just a fair warning, they are being marked up quite a bit, unfortunately. We’ll continue to watch retailers for new stock, and add a link as soon as we see it — but if you can’t wait, this is your only option right now.

Nintendo Switch Lite

The story isn’t much rosier as far as stock goes for the Nintendo Switch Lite, either, although it seems that Nintendo might be catching up with demand somewhat as Target recently got new stock in that hasn’t sold out in a matter of minutes. We’d recommend acting quickly here as stock doesn’t last long. Here’s where you can pick up the NS Lite today.

  • Nintendo Switch Lite (Gray) at Best Buy

    — $200
  • Nintendo Switch Lite (Turquoise) at Best Buy

    — $200
  • Nintendo Switch Lite (Yellow) at Best Buy

  • Nintendo Switch Lite (Turquoise) at Target

PlayStation 4

The PlayStation 4 doesn’t seem to stay in stock for that long when it appears. But we’ve been can report that the PS4 is in stock from the retailers below as of the publish time of this article. We’ll keep updating it as stock and availability changes.

  • PS4 (1TB) at Best Buy

    $300

PlayStation 4 Pro

Given that it’s a bit more expensive than your standard PS4, the Pro version is typically in better stock at the major retailers. Here are some places you can pick up a PS4 Pro today.

  • PS4 Pro (1TB) at Gamestop

    $400
  • PS4 Pro (1TB) at Target

    $400
  • PS4 Pro at Kohl’s

    $400

Xbox One S

The Xbox One S, the cheaper of the two current Xbox consoles, seems to be in much better stock at many retailers than some of the other consoles on our list, but we wouldn’t recommend sitting around as gamers might opt for an Xbox should the other consoles remain as in short supply.

Xbox One X

The more expensive Xbox One X, like the high-end PS Pro, is in better stock at more retailers. Here’s where we recommend picking up yours.

  • Xbox One X (1TB) Star Wars Bundle at Target

    $400
  • Xbox One X (1TB) NBA 2K20 Bundle at Best Buy

    $400
  • Xbox One X (1TB) NBA 2K20 Bundle

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is unintentionally delightful
lord of the rings gollum art

One does not simply walk into Mordor; instead, one might opt to climb up a wall of vines or jump from platform to platform. That’s the crux of what The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is all about.

The game positions the player as the classic Lord of the Rings villain, shining light on his previously unexplored backstory, which includes his capture and subsequent escape from the clutches of evil. It’s a novel concept that I wasn’t exactly sure would work before trying it out for myself. Given all that, I knew I needed to play The Lord of the Rings: Gollum at PAX East, and after going hands-on with it, I came away with mixed thoughts that lean positive, with more than a few caveats.

You can still get a Thunder Shotgun in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. Here’s how
Fortnite characters in a city.

Fortnite has received plenty of exciting new weapons in Chapter 4 Season 2, and in typical fashion, Epic has also vaulted some of last season's weapons to clean up the loot pool. Among the weapons vaulted for Season 2 is the Thunder Shotgun -- but weirdly, it can still be obtained, as it appears Epic possibly overlooked one NPC who drops it.

Anyone who wants to score the Thunder Shotgun in Season 2 can head over to Frenzy Fields and look for the NPC named Sunflower who walks around the farm. Simply eliminate her and pick up the weapon she drops. It's unclear if this is actually something Epic missed, or if the team just simply didn't want to bother changing up Sunflower's loot drops. Either way, it's currently the only way to obtain the Thunder Shotgun.

MLB The Show 23 returns to Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch this March
Jazz Chisholm's cover art for MLB The Show 23.

Sony San Diego Studios announced MLB The Show 23 today, and confirmed that it will launch across all major PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo systems on March 28.
No new platforms were added this year, so PC players aren't getting in on the fun. Still, this announcement makes it clear that MLB The Show is a multiplatform series across PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms for the foreseeable future. Xbox's version of the trailer also confirms that MLB The Show 23 will be on Xbox Game Pass at launch, making this first-party Sony series a day-one Game Pass title three years in a row.
MLB The Show 23 - Cover Athlete Reveal
As is typically the case with sports games, MLB The Show 23's reveal was primarily focused on its cover athlete. We learned that Jazz Chisholm Jr., a second baseman for the Miami Marlins, will grace the cover of the game. Like last year, the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of the game will cost $60, while players  on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S without Xbox Game Pass will need to pay $70. So far, no new gameplay features have been teased, although a blog post confirms that cross-platform multiplayer, saves, and progression across all versions of the game will return this year.
So far, there's not a lot that actually seems new about MLB The Show 23, but this reveal concludes the genesis of a new era for the long-running baseball series. MLB The Show 23 will be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on March 28.
