Windows 10 users can now directly stream Xbox games to their PC

A new update came out today for Windows 10 PCs that allows direct streaming of console games from the Xbox App. Ultimate Game Pass subscribers can now stream their console games directly onto their PCs and will not require a download.

While this seems like a simple update that probably should have come sooner than now, it’s a significant update for PC owners. Since players will be able to stream games, those who do not own the fastest and beefiest computers can still play high-spec games.

The only thing that is required is an Ultimate Game Pass and a console, which is a significantly lower asking price than a souped-up PC. This will allow more accessibility for gamers to try out games that they would not have on their PC. While streaming games to different gaming platforms is still in its infancy, Microsoft is showing the world how this can look further down the road.

Earlier this summer, Microsoft announced that it is planning to add the Xbox App to Smart TVs which will allow players to stream Xbox games directly onto their television sets. This alongside the Windows 10 streaming shows that Microsoft is invested in giving players a plethora of options to play Xbox games. This means players who originally thought had no avenue to play the latest games may soon find that they will be spoiled with options.

Cloud streaming directly to the Windows 10 Xbox App is only usable for games on the Game Pass. Other downloaded games on the console can still be streamed but must use the Remote Play App.

When I think back to 2022, there are a ton of critically acclaimed games that stick with me. Naturally, I spent countless hours adventuring through the Lands Between in Elden Ring. Splatoon 3 and Vampire Survivors ate up my entire summer, while I still think about Pentiment and Immortality months later. There's one lesser-known game, though, that was a go-to I kept coming back to throughout the year despite the fact that it wasn't talked about nearly as much as any of those games.

That would be Arcade Paradise, a quiet 2022 standout that's now available on Xbox Game Pass today. Developed by Nosebleed Interactive, it's a unique simulation game that balances 90s nostalgia with a thoughtful look at the line between hobby and work. If you spent any time during your youth hanging around arcades, you'll want to give it a try while it's on Game Pass.

Xbox Game Pass adds one of 2022’s best racing games this month

Microsoft has revealed that games that will be coming to Xbox Game Pass throughout the rest of June and even into early July. While the list lacks any major exclusives or first-party games, a solid racing game from 2022 and some intriguing indies make it an interesting batch. Thankfully, the losses the service will suffer at the end of the month aren't too bad either.
The most notable game to hit Xbox Game Pass Ultimate during the back half of June will be Need for Speed Unbound. Coming to the service via its EA Play connection, this is a solid racing game that I gave a three-and-a-half-star review last year. At the time, I said it was "a surprisingly entertaining racer in a year that hasn’t seen much racing game excitement since Gran Turismo 7." On the indie side of things, The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales will be a day one Xbox Game Pass release on June 22. It's an isometric adventure game where the main gimmick is that players can enter the worlds of books they come across.
Former PlayStation console exclusive F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch will also come to Xbox Series X/S via Xbox Game Pass on June 27. This is the full list of titles you can expect to come to the subscription service between today and July 5.

I can rest — my search for the ultimate PC gaming controller is over

I have over a dozen controllers that I cycle through often. These aren't just relics from past consoles, either; they've all been on a quest to find the one controller that I want to pick up and use. Scuf's Reflex controller has ended that search.

If you're unfamiliar, Scuf has a long history of building premium controllers, but the controller custom shop for the most intense (and well-off) gamers has felt less necessary over the past several years. Xbox has continued to iterate on its Elite Series 2 controller, and although Sony was late to the party, we now have the DualSense Edge pulling its weight as a premium controller for PlayStation fans.
