Xbox 360 storage expands with new 500GB hard drive

Xbox 360 owners that are running low on storage space might want to take a peek at Microsoft’s new 500GB hard drive for the console, freshly revealed on the Xbox website. The $110 drive isn’t available just yet, with a note on the product page that reads “Pre-order coming soon.”

The 500GB drive is actually $20 cheaper than the older 320GB drive, which retails for $130. There’s been no confirmation yet, but the launch of the 500GB option will presumably be accompanied by a price drop on the other drives.

A 500GB drive brings the Xbox 360’s storage capacity in line with the Xbox One, though it doesn’t go nearly as far on the new console since the games are so much larger (for the most part). Of course, the Xbox One is also the only Microsoft console that supports storage on an external hard drives, provided it’s USB 3.0-ready and has a capacity of 256GB or more.

Hi-Fi Rush 2 is still in development under new owner

We've gotten more details on what Tango Gameworks was working on when it was shut down by Microsoft earlier this year. It was later bought and revitalized by Krafton.

Maria Park, Krafton head of corporate development, said in a GamesIndustry.biz interview that Tango had been working on Hi-Fi Rush 2 when the news came down from its parent company. Not only that, but the team had a six-month-old build to show Krafton while negotiating the deal. A report had already revealed Tango had pitched the sequel, but it wasn't clear if it was in development at that time.

A new community project announced earlier this month is finally giving emulation fans a potential way to play Xbox One games on Windows PCs, overcoming one of the biggest hurdles for console emulation in recent memory.

XWine1 isn't an emulator; rather, it's a translation layer that takes Xbox software and "translates" it to run on a Windows PC. This is similar to how the Proton compatibility layer works on the Steam Deck, taking Windows titles and making them compatible with the Deck's Linux-based OS.
