Own an Apple TV? You can try tvOS 13 right now — sort of

Itching to give tvOS 13 and all the new features that come bundled with it a try? You’re in luck: The first beta of tvOS 13 is available to download right now — so long as you have access to an Apple ID enrolled in the firm’s Developer Program.

The Developer Program isn’t as elusive as it sounds. In fact, anyone can join. All you need to do is head over to the Apple’s website, fill in some basic information, and hand over $99, then you’ll be able to download the tvOS 13 beta right away.

Once enrolled, the membership is good for one year and entitles you access to not only the tvOS 13 beta, but also any and all respective beta releases of iOS 13, MacOS Catalina and WatchOS 6, as well as Apple’s new iPad operating system.

But what if you don’t have a smidgen under $100 to blow on a subscription? Just wait until the end of the month, when Apple will commence its Public Beta Program for tvOS 13, which will see it made available to the masses for free.

So, what does tvOS 13 bring to the table?

Announced on Monday, June 3, during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2019 keynote, tvOS 13 bundles a number of much-requested design changes and features, like a new Control Center, a revamped home screen and multi-user support — all of which are explained here.

The tvOS 13 app also lays the groundwork for Apple Arcade, the fruit-named giant’s upcoming on-demand game subscription service, introducing support for the both the PlayStation DualShock 4 and Xbox wireless controllers.

Where can I try the brand new Apple TV app?

You may have heard a thing or two about a new Apple TV application. This time, it isn’t for tvOS, but rather MacOS Catalina, designed to bring it in line with the Apple TV application for iOS (and now, iPadOS), which was revamped back in March.

With that in mind, you need to download the MacOS Catalina beta in order to try out the new Apple TV application. It’s available right now through the Developer Program and will be available for the public to try, for free, later this summer.

Fortnite finally comes back to Apple devices via GeForce Now
Spider-Man in Fortnite.

Nvidia announced today that it's bringing Fortnite back to Apple platforms with an open beta on Android and iOS devices through its cloud gaming service, Nvidia GeForce Now. This limited-time testing will take place on the Nvidia GeForce Now Android app and the iOS Safari web browser. Note that it's the Apple web browser, not an app.

GeForce Now members can sign up for the open beta before it starts next week. However, there's limited space available, so everyone who signs up won't necessarily receive an invite. Those who want to participate but don't yet have a Nvidia GeForce Now account can sign up for free.

Apple might drop support for the iPhone SE and iPhone 6S with arrival of iOS 16
iphone 6s launch

Apple may finally be dropping some of its oldest supported iPhones with the next iOS release. This report comes from the French publication iPhoneSoft, which accurately predicted the iOS 13 and iOS 14 road maps.

Apple has been praised for supporting its iPhones for an exceedingly long period of time with full updates, and that has led to impressive scenarios like the iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 being updated to iOS 15 last year. Granted, they couldn't take advantage of several hardware-enabled features, but they weren't rapidly outdated either.

apple wwdc 2021 everything announced watch os portrait face 2

Apple released WatchOS 8 for the Apple Watch on September 20, alongside iOS 15 for the iPhone. While the latest Apple Watch software isn't quite as feature-packed as its iPhone and iPad counterparts, it adds some significant quality of life improvements that promise to make the experience of Apple's wearable even smoother, while helping you stay more relaxed, maintain focus, and keep in shape.
Mindfulness
WatchOS 8 takes the long-standing Breathe app that's been around since WatchOS 3 and expands it into a broader Mindfulness app. This adds a new Reflect section to help folks take some time to sit back and think happy thoughts.

The new Mindfulness app also still includes the features of the previous Breathe app, which has remained basically unchanged since its debut five years ago. According to Apple, however, Breathe has gotten more popular -- which really isn't surprising considering the year we've all had.
